I made a statement in a thread either here or that other place and said four things needed to happen for the Griz to win:
1) Chase Reynolds had to have more yards than Trevyn Smyth. Reynolds - 185, Smith - 104.....CHECK
2) Montana had to have fewer than two turnovers and Weber had to have more than two. Montana - 0, Weber - 3....CHECK
3) Montana HAD to cut down on the 7 sacks allowed at the last meeting. This game, I can only remember Berquist being sacked 1 time. CHECK.
4) Montana had to have at least a 32:28 min TOP advantage. Montana - 35:47, Weber - 24:13. CHECK
Four checks means VICTORY for the Griz!!!
I think the thing Weber failed to realize is that THIS was not the same team they played in October. THAT team was a passing team. We morphed into a running team in week 7 and never looked back. Bobby Hauck realized what he had in Reynolds, and has ridden that horse all the way to the semifinals. Nice job shutting down Mariani, Schulte, Ferriter, etc. Nice job holding Berquist to 8-19 passing. Too bad it don't mean shit, huh?
Hope you guys aren't strangers around here now that your season is over...
