Re: THSCA All-Star Game
I can assume no one else on here watched this game but I am putting some thoughts out on the 3 players anyway.
Keep in mind that there were 66 players and about 90% of them are going to FBS schools.
Tuttle - He didn't get much PT, basically because the south team had the ball most of the time, but what I saw, I like. The kid played RT and defended a DE (A Texas Tech recruit) the whole night; kept him out of the plays and away from his QB, RB's and receivers.
Arndt - The whole TXST fan world has this kid pegged as the next coming of the messiah. What I saw was good, not overwhelming. True they had only 3 days of practice and he hasn't been on the field since December but I wasn't just blown away. It may have been better if the coaching staff hadn't used the 2 QBs in alternating series, I don't know. What I saw was some good decision making. He threw the ball away instead of eating it or having a really bad pass, at times. However, he had a couple throws that actually made me cringe (others thought it was great.) He was being pressured/hurried and threw a ball up for grabs. Granted the receiver was 6'5" and pulled it down between 2 defenders but what if that receiver had been 5'11" or even 6'2"? I think it's an INT. Don't get me wrong, he had some nice passes but he was also stopped - twice - with QB keepers on 3rd and goal and 4th and goal from about the 1 foot line.
They did use him for a couple punts and a fake punt, which would have been a 1st if the recruit from UTSA hadn't dropped the damn pass
. It was a perfect pass too.
Overall 7/11 89 yds and 2 dropped passes. Not that great on the stats side.
He also passes off his back foot. Not a good thing IMHO. He has been going to SM every week to work out and participate in the 7 on 7's but I think it would be wise to redshirt this kid.
Williams - Played the entire game at NT. He's a little short 5'11" for a NG/NT but I think we just may have found our new NG for the next 4 years. He was all over the place and has a motor. He was in on every defensive play except long passes but he would head downfield, regardless. He blew away the north's center several times and pushed back the OLine on a few plays. One of which led to a safety. Did a great job of stopping the RB's also.
Of the three, he has the best chance of starting as a true freshman. All he needs is some work with the strength and conditioning crew and some coaching up (but not a lot here)

Re: THSCA All-Star Game
Here's a quick Q&A the local sports guy did with the 3 players.
Someone on BCF mentioned that Tuttle looks like a heavier Payton Manning
I tend to agree

Is there any stats? Just wondering how Zach Logan from Deer Park played.

Ardnt - Overall I thought he did a great job. I believe the the ball went where Arndt wanted it to go. The two dropped passes were thrown perfectly, one pass hit the receiver right on the numbers and the other on the hands.
Williams - Wow, I now believe that DeShun is the real steal of the 2010 bobcat recruiting class. Even though I believe his best football is couple of years away, I have no doubt that DeShun will play this upcoming fall and probably even start.
