Must be difficult to implement and maybe a lot of coaches simply don't know the nuts&bolts of a triple option attack and refuse to learn. Do you have to recruit a certain type of players?
I've seen dozens of games,as we all have, where the situation of the field would lend itself well to a triple option play. For example instead of runnning straight into a stacked box three consecutive plays on a first and goal,or a mid field critical third and short (under five)ect, ect. try something the other team is not expecting. The triple option doesn't have to be your primary offense but it can sure win a game for you.
Alot of reasons coaches dont use it is because of the work it takes. You need to have VERY disciplined players for this offense to be run succsesfully and on top of that have to be able to make adjustments to anything the defense shows. Also coaches think you cant pass out of it when in reality it is one of the BEST offenses to throw the ball. If your running the ball over and over again and doing pretty well the Playaction pass is huge! (Look at the highlights from this years Navy vs ND and that long touchdown pass) you dont have to throw the ball a million times to win. Frankly however the biggest reason is that most coaches think its a "gimmick" offense that doesnt belong in D1 football (got that quote from ESPN's Coach Holtz). They think that its a cliche, ancient, ect. The triple option is getting more support then it ever has but still this day and age is dominated by the spread offense. :ohno: :ohno:. I however personally think this is the best offense in all of football and will run it till i cant coach anymore (my little leauge team this year went 9-1 first year running this offense, these kids were 2-7 a year before) :thumb:

Yes, I take a little bit of pride in what has happened to Michigan's football program since that fateful Sept 2007 day....especially since my in-laws are from Michigan & my sis-in-law is an obnoxius loud-mouthed UM fan who thoght it was "cute" that Michigan was going to lower themselves to play App....still haven't sent them the picture of me outside UM stadium holding up the front page of the Ann Arbor & Detroit Freep Sun papers day after game as it would cause problems between wife & siblings (but boy, do I want to! )....
