Quarterfinal Week - Breakdown

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Playoffs

SFA 0-51 UMT
APPST 35-31 RICH
W&M 24-3 SIU
UNH 7-46 NOVA

  • Best Performance: (#1) Montana 51, Stephen F. Austin 0 - Montana shuts out the nation's top scoring offense by forcing an insane 10 turnovers. Griz DT Tyler Hobbs had a forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, & an interception in the victory.

Worst Performance: New Hampshire 7, (#2) Villanova 46 - New Hampshire gets stuffed for a comical minus-66 yards rushing as Villanova exacts vengeance.

Most Surprising Result: William & Mary 24, (#3) Southern Illinois 3 - The Tribe hold Payton finalist Deji Karim to 27 yards rushing and embarrass the Salukis.

SWAC

SU 25-30 TXSO

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 14-15

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 6-4

Best Performance: Texas Southern 30, Southern 25 - Tigers post their first winning season since 2000.

Worst Performance: Southern 25, Texas Southern 30 - The Jags fall to Texas Southern for the first time in 13 years.

    Most Surprising Result: (none)

Gridiron Classic

CCSU 23-28 BUT

  • Best Performance: Butler 28, Central Connecticut St. 23 - Bulldogs accomplish the impossible: committing 0 penalties in a game.

Worst Performance: Central Connecticut St. 23, Butler 28 - Despite holding an edge in most of the stats, the Blue Devils lose & the NEC falls to 1-3 in the Gridiron Classic.

Most Surprising Result: Butler 28, Central Connecticut St. 23 - If, in 2007, someone had said the Butler football team would soon win 11 games in a season, that person would have been committed to a psychiatric institution.
