There is a slim chance that 9-2 Colgate gets in over 7-4 Weber.
It matters with regard to who gets to go to Brookings and who gets to go to Lake Charles.
Perhaps, but how much does that matter? Either will be a tough, but winable, road game.

If it meant the difference between hosting Holy Cross or travelling to Richmond I could see where it would matter.

I agree with Weber being taken over EWU, but that still leaves on spot remaining. Which other bubble team has a better resume than EWU?
As the chips happened to fall this year, there is no reason to exclude either Eastern Washington or Weber. This should not be a difficult discussion for the selection committee.
I agree. Weber's resume is better than the other "left out" teams available. I think Colgate will get some attention at 9-2, but Weber played a much better schedule and finished strong at 5-1.

If the committee gets hung up on wins and losses then Colgate may have a chance, but if the committee is looking for the better team Weber is the choice. I think Weber beats Colgate, even if the game were played at Hamilton. :twocents:

The committee probably wants UNI for the Dome attendance; the problem is that UNI peaked earlier in the year and would go into the playoffs with their best ball already played.

Points well taken. The overall resumes of Weber State and UNI this year are about as close as they can be. The primary difference, as you infer, is how the teams finished.

However, with SIU winning the MVFC autobid and top a top four seed, and with Montana, McNeese, and South Dakota State in the "western" playoff picture, the committee does not need the UNI attendance this year as much as is years past.

EWU should definitely be #8.

To me, any of the other "bubble" teams getting in over those two would be a shock. EWU & Weber have better FCS records than UNI & Lafayette while they have clearly tougher schedules than Colgate, Liberty, & FAMU. The committee has made inexplicable decisions before, though.
Well John didn't clear it up very much, but it seems that Weber's head-to-head didn't have that big of an impact.
Mike (Cheney): Which is more important to the committee in regards to two teams with the same record: head to head, or performance against other playoff-caliber teams?
John McCutcheon: When we have the luxury of head to head matchups, we certainly consider it. However, we mainly rely on the three primary factors mentioned earlier.
"Those are overall won-loss record, strength of schedule and quality of wins."
