On any other day Higgins would have gotten votes, I'm sure.
Chase just edged him out though.

Is this the same Higgins who some were saying should have gotten the Payton Award over Armanti last year?

Based on Weber's preseason hype by the media and all conference voters, I was expecting a shootout and close game. Credit the GRIZ for a great game plan and near perfect execution of that game plan. This leads to my questions I have asked since the presason polls. Can we officially discuss if Weber State was overrated? Was Montana underrated? Has Weber State under performed? Are their players as talented as the preseason hype and the coaching subpar? Did the preseason voters deep down not have a clue this year in the BSC?
Sorry, but against the GRIZ, I just did not see that many all conference performers for Weber State. I will give Smith credit, and know he is injured. I also thought one of the LB's and the all american CB are all conference players. Toone over time has proven to be one, but beyond those 4, I just did not see that loaded of a team. Ditto their games against UNC and EWU.
I honestly did not see a team much better than your average BSC team this year. I feel there were a lot of players from EWU, Montana, Montana State, and NAU that went overlooked in the preseason awards.
Speaking of awards, Higgins proved to be much too soft when under pressure. He should be out of contention for the Payton award, and be replaced with fellow BSC player, Marc Mariani. I feel Nichols, Herrick (NAU), and Selle (despite sharing duties) are all better QBs than Higgins this year.
So what has happened to Weber State this year? On paper they should have dominated not only the BSC, but FCS football in general.
