I appreciate the map, but I would think that about a dozen or more other colleges would be ahead of Nevada as far as the PAC Ten is concerned. The PAC Ten sees no need to expand, at least at the moment.

It has to do with academics. Or at least academic reputation. I've often wondered how Washington State got in there. You're right - this doesn't have much to do with Championship Football. But it's hard to ignore them when you're surrounded with them and play them occasionally (Portland State starts off the season with Oregon State this year).

I do agree that the Nevadas arent anywhere close yet. However last year UNLV did go into Arizona State and win 23-20 when the Sun Devils were ranked #3 at the time in 08:

And Nevada Reno this year is considered to be one of the possible BCS busting teams due to there QB, stable of running backs and Pistol Rushing attack and good things are expected out of them in 09. So maybe in future they may get an invite, but as of right now the two teams that would at this point would be BYU and Utah.

Z's right, that's FAR more likely - and it still ain't happening.

the PAC-10 has such a simple perfection to it - 2 teams per state (if you split socal and norcal in to the separate entities that they are) with great academic credentials amazing facilities for sports and a record of high achievement in both. why expand? to what purpose? (but other than the 2 schools from each state, why IS wazzu in there? it's like a giant "one of these things is not like the other" moment)
North Dakota State University Bison 2011 and 2012 National Champions

Perhaps a Boise State for Wazzu switcheroo?   WSU might actually be slightly competitive in the WAC. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Pac-10 has talked about expanding into the SLC market by adding Utah and BYU. Also has talked about the Denver market as well, with Colorado. As with most conference affiliations, they are looking at TV markets. Surprising, no mention is heard from them about Las Vegas, nor San Diego. Not necessarily with football, but I would think having UNLV, Nevada and/or San Diego State would improve tremendously the basketball exposure for the Pac-10.

There are rumors out there that the relationship between Wazzu and the Pac-10 are kind of rocky at the moment, although no one will officially go on record as saying that.
