Football Media Day Live Tuesday; Fans Can Submit Questions
Fans Can Participate by Submitting Questions for League Coaches and Players
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference preseason football media teleconference on Tuesday, July 28 will be streamed live throughout the day on SoConSports.com, giving SoCon football fans the chance to hear the league’s head football coaches and select players discuss the upcoming season.
In addition, fans will have the opportunity to contribute to this year’s event by submitting questions for coaches and student-athletes – one of which will be chosen for each participant in the teleconference. Fans should email their questions to SoConFootball2009@gmail.com, including the following information:
o Your name
o Hometown
o Favorite SoCon team
o Coach or student-athlete to whom your question is directed
o Question
The event kicks off at 8:45 a.m. (ET) when league commissioner John Iamarino will give remarks and be available for questions from the media.
Starting at 9:00 a.m., each coach will be allotted 30 minutes for interviews, and every student-athlete will fill a 15-minute window following his head coach. In order to help media members who cannot stay on for the entire call, we will not begin a coach or player’s interview until his allotted time slot.

Not sure if Edwards was a good choice to bring. I know he is popular but public speaking may not be his strong suit.

While he may normally be reserved and quiet, and he does have a "low-country" accent, he's the player that everyone in the media will want to talk to. I'd say if you asked each member of the media who will be "in attendance" what one player they have a question for, other than the player from their local team, it would be Edwards. For App to not showcase him would really tick off a lot of folks. Also, if the SID is doing his job, this is the beginning of his Payton title defense campaign.bobbythekidd wrote:Not sure if Edwards was a good choice to bring. Edwards as ASU's representative is a no-brainer.

Furman conference.
Opening statement includes the standard excitement claims, great offseason, good spring practice.

First question for St. Lamb is about transfers. Apparently Furmie gets up to 50 transfer requests a year.

Re: 2009 SoCon Media Day
Question about the championship game being in Chatty.
Lamb says it's a good thing for the South and something for the Southern Conference to be proud of.
Questions: Team improvements
Stumbled down the stretch. Number one emphasis in Spring practice is Furman getting back to rushing the football. Believes the personnel are in place for the running game. They can "tote the mail". Nice.
Question about quaterback.
Sorrells is starting QB going in. Forcier hasn't been coached yet but brings excitement and they'll see what he's got in camp.

Re: 2009 SoCon Media Day
Question about Armanti being in his last year.
Great great player. Senior year wants to go out with a bang. Furman did a good job defending AE last year. Doesn't get enough credit for his physical toughness. Can run and throw.
Question about offensive players.
The caliber of offensive players continues to rise. Great run of talent.
Question about stopping AE.
A bit of an advantage in playing every year. Studying in the offseason. Hard to stop in 1 on 1 situations.
Question about Ryan Steed.
Had a good year especially on special teams unit. Has lots of upside. Thinks he'll be one of the top corners at Furman. Will start.

Question about playing at Paulson.
Difficult place to play. Intense. Tailgaters get fired up when the buses pull in. Great atmosphere. Takes a full effort on both sides of the ball to win. Have to keep composure.

Re: 2009 SoCon Media Day
Question about playing Auburn.
Exciting. 12 to 14 kids from Alabama looking forward to playing. Big challenge. Big stadium with great fans. Looking forward to it.
Question about parity.
Appalachian is definitely being chased but is certainly the favorite with the players returning. Two years ago beat Michigan and lost two league games. Can't sleep on any Saturday or you'll get beat. SoCon football is some of the best out there regardless of level.
Coach Lamb interview is over.
