The Northeast Conference, a NCAA Division I conference of 12 institutions from Rhode Island south to Maryland and west to Western Pennsylvania with offices in Somerset, New Jersey, seeks candidates for the position of Commissioner. The Commissioner is CEO of the Conference and reports to a board of directors (called the Council of Presidents) comprised of the 12 presidents of the member institutions. The Northeast Conference makes academic success, sportsmanship, and integrity priorities in its student-athlete centered program.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Conference's chief compliance and enforcement officer and to insure that the members are in compliance with the NCAA Constitution, Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Conference Code.
- Maintain (and increase when appropriate) membership.
- Serve as primary liaison to presidents and athletic directors.
- Negotiate agreements on behalf of the Conference with sponsors, radio and television networks, sports arenas and other parties.
- Track NCAA governance matters, and represent the Conference with the NCAA and other NCAA-affiliated conferences.
- Conduct strategic planning and ensure execution of the Conference Strategic Plan (available at: http://northeastconference.org/Pdfs/gen ... 09/7/2/NEC Strategic Plan.pdf.)
- Promote the prestige and success of the Conference through public relations and marketing efforts among intercollegiate institutions, athletic associations, media and others.
- Supervise the Conference staff, and manage office space and budget/financial matters.
- Plan and coordinate Conference meetings.
- Supervise officiating coordinators in appropriate sports.
- Oversee intra-Conference scheduling, sports championships management, and eligibility for NCAA regional and national championships.
- Serve as the secretary/treasurer of the Council of Presidents.
- Carry out other duties as directed by the Council of Presidents.

Qualifications:
- Candidates with demonstrated, successful leadership experience, preferably within NCAA-sponsored athletics.
- Bachelor's degree mandatory; Master's degree preferred.

Compensation:
- Salary is commensurate with experience. A competitive benefits package is included.

Would it be wrong for me to apply for this position and then lobby the Albany admins to leave the conference?

Shit, I just turned in 3 football coaching applications, had I known this was going to open up I would have waited on the coaching apps.
