SUU vs BYU
SUU has signed to play BYU in 2016 in November, on top of opening the season with Utah. Should be a big financial boost to the team but I hope they know what they're doing.

Re: SUU vs BYU
I will have to try and check this one out. BYU usually gets a decent crowd of 55K out 65K to these FCS games. It is easier to find a ticket to a BYU game than a Utah game these days.

It's surprising for a state that low in population that you could fill a 1/3 of a season with DI games.

Re: SUU vs BYU
I don't know about this move. On the one hand, an FBS double-dip isn't generally a good idea for FCS teams with playoff aspirations. (I know I give SUU cr@p, but they HAVE gotten to the point where they COULD get an at-large berth if they don't pull an NAU-style late-season swoon. Winning the BSC title outright is probably a bit out of their capability, but then again, whoodathunk PSU would have done what they have this season?) ECB teams have a better shot at pulling off the FBS double-dip (if they forego the BIG paydays and go after the low-hanging fruit known as the MAC/Sun Belt/C-USA). Unfortunately, out West, we have no leagues that would fit that category, and the only schools that would help in that regard are San Jose State and Idalol. On the other hand, NORMALLY BYU and Utah wouldn't be all that big a deal, but they seem to have capitalized (as Colorado has not) on the expanded recruiting one would expect in the Pac-12. Utah has NEVER been a nationally-known foe, and BYU really hasn't been since Jim McMahon and Steve Young were around, but they are now, at least for the time being. I have no reason to believe that they'll jump back into the Pac-12 cellar, either.
At least SUU hasn't gone off the deep end as UOP did during that fateful season of 1995 (3-8 following a disastrous pre-season schedule that included @ Fresneck, @ AZ, @NE, @ OR, and home against OR State. Hopefully, for SUU's and the conference's sake, this crazy jump-up schedule doesn't hit the 'Birds in terms of injuries as bad as it did my Tigers. That directly led to the loss of the program a week before Christmas, though there WAS the extenuating issue of faculty out to kill us for the ten years previous to that. SUU probably doesn't have THAT to worry about, though....

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.
