Why do I have a sinking feeling this is how it would go in Montana if we ever tried to move up....

I understand where the State is coming from. HOWEVER, Coastal has always done it like this, has always been successful in fundraising to defry costs and has always been approved. This is the CHE having to go up and beyond because they let SC State run wild and become a financial albatross. But i'm listening to the meeting right now and they are giving The Citadel some trouble over building a hall for the School of Business. I think we've proven ourselves financially.AZGrizFan wrote:Why do I have a sinking feeling this is how it would go in Montana if we ever tried to move up....

It's also the home stadium for THREE high schools, not just one.Ibanez wrote:I don't doubt that. It's just comical.clenz wrote: They also draw twice, or three times, what CCU does for a game....

I've been watching the meeting. Haley absolutely doesn't want to give us the vote, however is cool with giving USC $50M for a football facility. Why? Because they are a Power 5. The legislature and Comptroller Gen. sound like they are for us. The Compt. Gen is actually speaking very well of our financial practices (not raising tuition for 3-4 years and then raising it only 3.29%)

It passed. 3-2. The Governor and Treasure voted against.

Not bad, that's only half of 6.93%.Ibanez wrote:I've been watching the meeting. Haley absolutely doesn't want to give us the vote, however is cool with giving USC $50M for a football facility. Why? I hope this works out well for CCU in the end. They were an interesting addition to the conference. Never really seemed on the radar and then, BAM, they were in. The eastern schools were so desperate to add someone not named Liberty. JMU was the first choice but they thought they were too good and would get a CUSA or MAC invite. Jokes on them. MSU was my personal favorite to add or NMSU full sports. But MSU wasn't ready. I am excited to welcome CCU and think in the long run they will be a smart add. My biggest concern isn't how competitive they will be, it's how well the fans will support them.

I would also worry how much they can grow. Bias aside from MO State, they are the 2nd largest University in the 2nd largest state that only has one FBS team (New Jersey being the largest).slycat wrote:I hope this works out well for CCU in the end.
