Harvard plays Penn today in Ivy tournament final.
Watched Salisbury beat York (PA) 12-4 yesterday to win its D-III conference tournament!

Has there ever been another NCAA tournament beside Chess or Rowing where the Ivy League had three entries?

It's strange to see an NCAA lax bracket without Princeton in it.

Wierd: after another substandard season in Lexington (2-12), both of VMI's "victims" (Richmond, USAFA) are NCAA-bound.......and UVa finishes 6th in the ACC, gets a seed....
....also, with Maryland moving to the Big-10, I presume they'll join Ohio St. and Michigan in the ECAC Lacrosse Conf.....

Penn State is in the CAA for men's lacrosse, so who knows?kdinva wrote:Wierd: after another substandard season in Lexington (2-12), both of VMI's "victims" (Richmond, USAFA) are NCAA-bound.......and UVa finishes 6th in the ACC, gets a seed....![]()

Big Ten is starting up lacrosse as a sport next year I believe. Penn State was inelligable for the CAA autobid this year.

A-Sun Men's LAX is so embarrassing. A 1st year team in Richmond wins it. Out of 67 lax playing schools according to laxpower, the 6 schools are ranked 48, 54, 56 (Richmond), 61, 65, and 66.kdinva wrote:Wierd: after another substandard season in Lexington (2-12), both of VMI's "victims" (Richmond, USAFA) are NCAA-bound.......and UVa finishes 6th in the ACC, gets a seed....![]()

Re: Official 2014 Lacrosse Thread.
my only answer to that, is that of those 6 schools, only VMI has had men's lacrosse as a varsity sport for more than five years......things will get better.......of course the SoCon would welcome W&M as an assoc. member for men's lacrosse, at some time....if you want to upgrade your Club team (ala the Spiders).tribe_pride wrote:A-Sun Men's LAX is so embarrassing. somewhat interesting that Johns Hopkins will be an assoc. member.......some plane trips there, although now their matches w/Maryland will mean something extra.
Marquette would be smart to ask the Big10 if they could join. Seven members = a balanced league schedule, and is a good geographic fit....even though they would be the western-most school.

Not this year. Being the best of the "second tier" teams is no longer the case for us.93henfan wrote:89Hen wrote: Who would you put in front of them?

Would love to but Title IX will prevent since we won't cut another sport (Richmond cut men's soccer and men's track) nor are we likely to add another women's sport since we already sponsor 21 (or 23 if you count indoor and outdoor track separately) varsity sports.kdinva wrote:my only answer to that, is that of those 6 schools, only VMI has had men's lacrosse as a varsity sport for more than five years......things will get better.......of course the SoCon would welcome W&M as an assoc. member for men's lacrosse, at some time....if you want to upgrade your Club team (ala the Spiders).tribe_pride wrote:

Re: Official 2014 Lacrosse Thread.
Crazy opening weekend.
Bryant upsets #2 Syracuse
Albany upsets #3 Loyola
Drexel upsets #4 Penn
Hopkins upsets #8 UVA
Tough week for the Ivy League as Cornell, Harvard and Penn all lose in the first round (only Penn was seeded among the 3)

Watched Bryant beat Cuse. Great game. Syracuse didn't know what to do.
Now if only Hopkins can get sent home. Nothing worse than being in Baltimore when Hopkins is in the Final Four at home.

I watched the beginning of the UVA Hopkins game. UVA started hot and then their goaltender came out after a turnover, made a dumb pass that was intercepted at midfield and the Hopkins dude fired it 50 yards for a goal and it was all Hopkins after that.

That was pretty dumb and bad. Hopkins looked really bad the first 5 minutes before that but moved after that play.93henfan wrote: I watched the beginning of the UVA Hopkins game. They are actually independent this year. Big Ten starts up next year I believe. Hopkins goes against Duke next weekend so it will be tough for them to advance though this past week was full of crazy upsets.
