I thought schools like Hopkins and Hobart were allowed to play D-I lax and all other sports at a different level because they were grandfathered years ago.
I think they have to be non-schollie to have their one team in DI.

Lafayette moves to 2-1 on the season with a win over Wagner. Tom Perini had an unbelievable 8 goals for the Leopards.

We have a big test on Friday against Penn who defeated Duke last week.

I think you are stil allowed 1 D1 sport if you are D2 or D3. We play NYIT a D2 program on Long Island in baseball every year. They are an Independent in D1 baseball.

True-- I was however under the impression that these situations were grandfathered, but I guess that is not the case.

I'm not so sure about this. It's hard to find the real info on Proposal 65 that made this exception for one sport for each school. To me it reads that any school that was offering schollies at the time the proposal passed (8 of them) was allowed to keep offering schollies, but any new school that wanted to do this going forward had to do it as non-schollie.

Albany wins 11-9. Danes were up 11-5 and got a little complacent. It almost cost them.

From Saturday action...

Freshman Connor Mooney tallied the first-career hat trick of his career to lead the No. 9 UMass men's lacrosse team to its fourth win a row to start 2011, 9-6 over No. 20 Brown at Garber Field. Anthony Biscardi also scored three and Steve D'Amario tallied twice while Ryan Hantverk netted the goal that put UMass ahead for good 48 seconds into the second half.

UMass (4-0) has now beaten three ranked teams this season, knocking off No. 12 Army, No. 13 Ohio State and No. 20 Brown.

The Minutemen are off to their best start since 2003, when they began the year 7-0 on the way to the NCAA Quarterfinals and a 13-3 record.

It's a two horse race between UMass and Hofstra in the CAA this year.

Lafayette moves to 2-2 after a one goal loss to #14 Penn.

A loss is a loss, but taking a very good Penn team to the wire is a very good sign for the Leopards. We have Navy up next -- key PL matchup.

Towson down 4-6 to start the 4th quarter against Maryland.

Nice sized crowd too, at least what it looks like on TV.

Tough end to road trip for Lehigh. Loss earlier in week at #13 Ohio State, 11-7 and then a loss at #18 Yale on Saturday, 10-6, after being down only 3-2 at halftime. Lehigh now 3-3 on year and 1-0 in Patriot. Takes on Presbyterian at home next Saturday.

Albany rattled off 3 straight wins after losing to Drexel to open the season. Now 3-1 with wins over two top 20 teams (UMass and Ohio State).

We should be ranked this week.

dropped the LM match 12-8. CA swing not so good for the guys. TXST now @6-2. Probably dropped in the poll but haven't checked.
