Here's a pic from the game Saturday.

Re: 2009 Concordia Season Thread
Well, I hate to say it this early, but our season is already pretty much lost. We lost our 2nd straight game yesterday, 29-10, against a conference foe. Putting us a 2-2 and 0-2 in conference with 3 teams sitting at 2-0 in the league. Got a bye week this week, then we head into the #12 teams house, who completely demolished a good conf. team yesterday. It'll either be close or we're gonna get pummeled. 14 turnovers for us in 4 games, 13 of which belong to our starting QB, who was yanked at the beginning of the 4th qtr yesterday. I did get to witness the #2 punter in the league behind be hit a 2 yard punt. Sad that my punting, and his shank were the highlights of the day for us. Never a good thing. Here's a pic from the game.

Well this oughta be good. Looks like I have to take over the placekicking duties for tomorrow's game in the Twin Cities against #15 St. Thomas. Our kicker evidently has H1N1 or something similar and is running a fever of 102 right now. So unless by some miracle, I'll be kicking and punting for the first time since high school.

You can do it Willie. Knock 'em in the endzone and through the uprights
Re: 2009 Concordia Season Thread
Well after a rough skid of 4 losses in a row, we finally put up a W yesterday, 41-21 against Hamline University. A loss would have put us at 0-5 in the league for the first time in school history so it's a good thing we got our shit together. Field was a MESS. Rained for 4 days straight here and they let a high school team use our field early in the week, making it much worse. We have 2 road games in a row and then may be playing our final game of the season, and my career, in the Fargodome.
How this didn't get blocked, we'll never know. The damn kid came untouched.

We won again on Saturday, 17-14 against St. Olaf in Northfield. Field conditions sucked ass, which showed. Our place kicker missed 2 field goals, theirs missed 3. Had the biggest punt of my college career, going 65 yards. Had another for 49 that was downed on the 1. Two games left in my career. Next weekend on the road, and finishing at home.

We also retained the ugliest traveling trophy in college football. First time we've had it since 2005.

Sorry, couldn't resist the St. Olaf mention.

Key Plays of the Game: Holding a 17-10 lead at the start of the third quarter, Concordia's defense came out and held Carleton to two total yards in their first two possessions of the second half. The Cobbers forced a pair of three-and-outs by the Knights and that allowed the CC offense to tack on the back-breaking TD midway through the third quarter.
The Leader: Concordia senior punter David Williamson had four punts in the game and averaged 42.0 yards per punt. He had two kicks downed inside the 20-yard line. In the fourth quarter he came up with a 41-yard punt that was downed at the 1-yard line and then came up with his best punt of the day, a 48-yarder that was downed on the 23-yard line.

Well, 4 long but short years coming to an end this afternoon. Can't believe I'll be strapping on the pads for the last time today. Wish me and my fellow seniors luck today.

Re: 2009 Concordia Season Thread
Well...our kickoff coverage decided to take a play off and it cost us. They ran one back 82 yards for a TD with :32 left to go. Threw a pick on our first play when we got it back. Finished the year 5-5. Not a good way to end though. And, I may have blown out my right ankle again like I did my junior year of high school. Was taking a route for a tackle, and when I tried to cut, felt the same "pop" as I did in high school. Sum bitch is all swollen and pretty sore. At least it was the last game.

I received a letter and was selected for the All-American Bowl in Minneapolis on Dec. 12. I have 1 week to declare whether or not I will be participating. Still debating since I messed up my ankle in the last game of the season last Saturday.
