GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Arizona cross country teams, dealing with frigid temperatures and a muddy course, were able to take home the Big Sky Championship for the third-consecutive year. Junior David M cNeill and senior Veronica Pohl captured the individual titles once again for the Lumberjacks, as the duo accomplished the same feat in 2008.
Interim Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Eric Heins was very pleased to once again be called champions of the Big Sky. The efforts of both teams to take home the title was very pleasing to the third-year coach.
“For the men our strategy was to get out in front right away, but we weren’t able to do that until we got to the muddy part of the course,” Heins said. “I think because we weren’t out in front immediately, we had a lot left in the tank for the end of the race. It was a great team effort for the men to have the whole team finish in the top 15.”

Sounds like all of that high altitude running pays off.
