Reagan gets a lot of credit for ending the Cold War. It would not have stunned me if Reagan and Gorbachev had been co-nominees or recipients.

I would argue that Reagan was more deserving than Obama.

Now that I think about it, considering the mess that Iraq has become, maybe the elder George Bush should have gotten one for not overthrowing Saddam.

No way in Hell, 86r. You can argue, but you won't get far. Dude invaded Grenada, financed death squads in Cental America, etc, etc. Nobel Peace doesn't go to old azzholes who invade small, virtually defenseless countries.

Most of you guys here need to re-read up on Reagan. Time has passed and away from his aura, now, historians are consigning him to presidential discredit Hell. And, he most decidedly did not either WIN nor END the Cold War.

Why is this being made into a big Conk/Donk issue? BHO isn't more deserving of this than other nominees out there based on what he'd actually accomplished by Feb 1 COMPLETELY IGNORING POLITICAL PARTIES. smfh :coffee:

That is offset for his failure to pull out in early October 1946.

Yo, 8. reread my three issues that got him the award. Biggest of all, I beleive, is that it was a vote for hope. Encouragement.

I was just throwing a name out there Cap'n. He wasn't nominated, so maybe you are correct.

But he did help in ending the Cold War and deserves some credit.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to beat you up. If you were Z, I wouldn't have typed that last sentence, but, anyway, he gets some credit, but the end of the Cold War is a much deeper affair than headline-reading-only Conks think. In reality, the strongest case is for Mikhail Gorbachev. And, George Bush I actually closed the deal. Every US president and staffer and Secretary and soldier had a role in ending that conflict.

Agree 100%. The fact that it ended without bloodshed is a credit to everyone who stood watch while it went on.
