Either Jimmy Carter or Father Guido Sarducci
You might be surprised how popular this sentiment is among many on the political left.
Sure, the political left fervently believes in “fixing” conservatives. Themselves, not so much.
Most law firms I know of put their partners out to pasture between the ages of 65 and 70. Reduces the malpractice risk, and skills invariably decline with age. No reason to treat public service any differently.AZGrizFan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 9:12 am Here’s a couple to add under Government, given the strange ramblings of the current bunch of octogenarians occupying positions of power:
* Upon reaching the age of 65, you shall be permitted to complete your current term and then are NOT ABLE to hold public office.
* Eliminate lifetime appointments for SC. Term expires at 65 and replacement will be selected using the current format.
These half looney dementia-ridden 78-85 year olds we’ve got as President, SotH, SC Justices, etc., etc….its fucking embarrassing and dangerous for the country.
Agreed. I would make the age 70 though. Sworn in before 70th b-day, done at the end of the term or year after turning 70. So oldest Senator could be 75, POTUS 73, REP 71, SCOTUS 70, Secretary and pretty mich everyone else 70. Still would get rid 1/3 of SCOTUS, and a whole slew of Congress. Would have meant Trump couldn’t have run 2016 (was sworn in at 70). Biden couldn’t have run 2020 (was sworn in at 78). Biden wouldn’t have even been able to run in 2016 if had wanted, and not been VP Obama’s 2nd term (was sworn in at 70).Ivytalk wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 10:47 amMost law firms I know of put their partners out to pasture between the ages of 65 and 70. Whatever, pick an age, 65, 67, 70. But it sure as FUCK ain’t 78, 80, 83, etc. These people can’t speak coherent sentences and are the most ill informed, curmudgeonly old farts I’ve ever seen…BDKJMU wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 12:13 pmAgreed. Current SCOTUS:
Breyer: 83
Thomas 73
Alito 71
Sotomayor: 67
Roberts 66 (will be 67 on 1/27)
Kagan 61
Kavanaugh 56
Gorsuch 54
Barrett 49 (will be 50 on 1/28)
Ginsburg was 87 when she croaked.

Or am I correct when I say that Fascist Manchin isn’t the only Dem who would oppose the BBB bill?

Overwhelming evidence supports the precise opposite of your statement. The left is literally defined by its desire to wield government as the cure for everything.kalm wrote:1). Establishment Dems aren’t the left.

3). Spending has and still can provide a ROI.
Establishment Dems are no more left than neo-cons or never Trumpers are right. They’re both quite similar.CID1990 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 7:44 amOverwhelming evidence supports the precise opposite of your statement. I’m not talking about establishment Dems, Mr. Strawmankalm wrote:Establishment Dems are no more left than neo-cons or never Trumpers are right. They’re both quite similar.
They all tend to support crony capitalism aka corporatism aka fascism.
I think his point was that the Democrat establishment isn't the same thing. Which seems obvious even here.CID1990 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 7:44 amOverwhelming evidence supports the precise opposite of your statement. Why don’t you name me a non-establishment Democrat who believes that government is not the cure for our ills?
Better yet, why not just name me a non-establishment Dem congresscritter? I’d like to know who these jackalopes are

(you really should try a different fallacy… your go-to is the laziest one)
I’m talking about literally everyone on the left OTHER than establishment Dems.
I’ll await your evidence of this large number of non-establishment Democrats who think government is the answer, and until then I’ll just call complete horseshit on your statement.

I like this proposal. Increase turnover, reduce the number of blue hairs making decisions for people that'll out live them by 40+ years, decrease the stagnation in the courts by having a certain ideology lead for decades and decades.AZGrizFan wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 9:12 am Here’s a couple to add under Government, given the strange ramblings of the current bunch of octogenarians occupying positions of power:
