When you hear about the observation of planets around other star systems, for example, that does not necessarily mean planets have actually been observed. Instead, they are looking at shifts in light patterns and assuming those shifts mean that planets are there.

I'll bite. I don't have cable so I don't really get to watch the mainstream media often, but at least reading the news online, I've yet to come across anything recent about an alien invasion...anywhere...ever.
