Fed will come in, threaten to take away funding if they don't use TSA, and that will be the end of that.

Just had an international flight a few weeks back, the wifey had an epi pen in her carry on that immediately flagged Mexican airport security. We flew into Orange County to connect back to Sac. Had to re-enter security after getting through customs...not a peep from TSA about her epi pen. Great people we have working at TSA...real diligent...we should all feel very safe.

Actually there is no official process associated with "utilizing" the TSA in Airports
The Governor has already made this clear

The TSA Agents are assigned to Sea/Tac Airport - true but
Nowhere does it say that the Airport cannot put a private entity in charge of security
thus telling all the TSA agents to effectively "Go stand over there out of the way"

For your sake I hope Washington and Sea/Tac have the bankroll to fight TSA's union. Should be an interesting ordeal to follow. Keep us informed on how it goes. :thumb:

There are over 350 "primary" airports in the US, defined by wiki as "provide scheduled passenger services and have over 10,000 passenger boardings per year". In 2002 the TSA awarded PP5 contracts to 6 airports to have private security instead of TSA:
-San Francisco
-Kansas City
-Rochester
-Jackson Hole
-Tupelo
-Sioux Falls.

That has since been expanded to 22 primary airports, with the following 16 added:
-Bert Mooney Airport
-Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport
-Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport
-Dawson Community Airport
-Glacier Park International Airport
-Havre City-County Airport
-Key West International Airport
-L. M. Clayton Airport
-Orlando Sanford International Airport
-Portsmouth International Airport
-Punta Gorda Airport
-Roswell International Air Center
-Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport
-Sidney-Richland Municipal Airport
-Wokal Field/Glasgow International Airport
-Yellowstone Airport
https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/screening-partnerships

Looks like 7 of those are in Montana. The only Cat X airport (top 25 in US) I see on that list is San Francisco. Don't confuse Orlando Sanford (SFB) with Orlando International (MCO). In terms of the busiest in 2014 by passenger enplanements, SFO was 7th and SEA-TAC was 13th, so if it works at SFO, it should work at SEA-TAC..

Why in the world does Montana need 7 airports? I mean, there's like 8 people on the entire state that can afford a plane ticket.

Well having landed at most of them in Montana...
The word "Airport" isn't probably the most accurate word

What we need, you see, is Bernie Sanders.

He'll triple the size of TSA (and if you triple the size of something, you triple the efficiency!)

Does it really matter? The airport's security funding will still come from TSA and instead of the employees being federal, they'll just be private. The same people will still be applying for these jobs. San Fran and a few other airports have done this already, but even the private contractors have to follow the rules the TSA put into place. Just seems like a privatized TSA lol.

You're missing a big difference-

A private security firm would use contract labor.

Part of why TSA is so screwed up is they can't get rid of the bad ones (and they're legion there) because the minute the TSA was stood up it became an organized labor cesspool.

You can fire contractors with or without cause.... whatever the hell you want to do

Then 5 years after SeaTac goes private, there will be all kinds of media concern trolling (with the KING of concern trolls... 60 Minutes leading the way) whining about how bad working conditions are for the people who keep us safe.
