Former ODU QB gets a look at his first paycheck from the Vikings:
Heinicke is Minnesota’s third-string quarterback, behind starter Teddy Bridgewater and backup Shaun Hill, and as such, gets few reps in practice. Most NFL teams only carry two quarterbacks, with the starter working with the offense and the backup running the scout team.

“Teddy needs all the reps he can get,” Heinicke said. “And Sean needs to stay sharp, so he works with the scout team. I don’t get a lot of reps and that makes it difficult.

“For now, it’s mostly mental reps for me, just listening to play calls and watching Teddy do his thing.”

He works with receivers after practice and is mentally prepared for every game, as he knows he’s only two sprained ankles away from being called upon to play.

His first NFL paycheck changed his perspective on taxes and politics. He’s from suburban Atlanta, a conservative area where high taxes are unpopular. “You always hear adults talk about taxes and that just blew over my head,” he said. “But once you see your first pay check and see all that they take out for taxes, oh my gosh.”

There is only one major party, the Government Party. It has two wings, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. One wing wants the government ever bigger. The other only wants the government bigger if it's in charge.
