Do recent events signal a change in the republican position on "Swiftboating"?

Trump? I think the word 'hero' is thrown around a lot. It seems anyone doing their job these days is a hero. But to criticize a man that went to war, was captured and volunteered to stay has a bit of bravery in him. Trump is a moron.

Did you feel the same way about Kerry putting his boat in harm's way to pull a man out of the river?

AMES, IOWA (The Borowitz Report)—Presidential candidate Donald Trump revealed a little-known episode of personal heroism from his youth on Saturday, telling an Iowa audience that he narrowly avoided capture in Vietnam by remaining in the United States for the duration of the war.

“The Cong were after me,” Trump said, visibly stirred by the memory. “And then, just in the nick of time, I got my deferment.”

The former reality-show star said he had never shared his record as a war hero before because “I don’t like to boast.”

He said that he only disclosed the episode now because “the way this nation treats our deferment veterans is a disgrace.”

Trump complained that he received no official commendation or medal for his heroism, calling the lack of recognition “shameful.”

“Those brave Americans who, like me, avoided being captured by not serving at all—we are the true heroes,” he said.

Trump’s tale of valor appeared to move many members of his audience, some of whom waited in line after his speech to thank him for his lack of service.

Trump is just saying what most conks won't say out loud. There is a hell of a lot more support for him than the mainstream conks think. He probably isn't as big of a threat as Sanders ids to Clinton, but his base of wackjobs is going to make some noise in the primary.

Thats why he's doing so well with the conk base. :coffee:

The hell of it is that if McCain's daddy weren't an admiral he would never have been shot down because his slot on the carrier would have been filled by a better pilot. :coffee:

No he didn't. He called people who want a secure border and no amnesty crazy. Sounds like McCain is the crazy one.

The parallel between Trump's words and what conks are anonymously willing to say on here is intriguing. You might be on to something, Dawg.

I hope he stays in it for the long haul. It's great theater.

Trump is interesting because he is saying things that most are afraid to say but in this case he said it poorly. He could have said something like, "I respect and appreciate John McCain's military service. However that doesn't exempt him from criticism on his service and decisions while he has served in the United States Senate." And then Trump could have went on his rant.

I don't think he actually has. He's lost shares/control when one of his corporations goes through bankruptcy, but I don't think he has personally been bankrupt.

Oh, well then nevermind. He's apparently a genius in the private sector then.
