Net Neutrality

Post by SuperHornet »

OK. That huge thread is way too long for me. Can someone explain exactly what this is at its core and compactly summarize what both sides are saying about it without all the hyperbole? I have no idea what's going on here, and until I do, I can't have a viable opinion about it.

Thank you!

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

No hyperbole? Come on, this is the politics forum, it's all hyperbole. And yes, I do recognize the irony of me saying that it's all hyperbole. :coffee:

The whole issue is hyperbole until something is passed.
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

Thank you!
1) The major builders of teh internets (Comcast / Verizon / Time Warner) have wasted $500 Billion in tax payers money and provided the 26th ranked QOS globally

2) These same companies now bill the customers who use this publicly funded internet

3) They Bill these customers entirely based on whim and competitive orientation

3b) Example Comcast bills NetFlix an exorbitant amount for bandwidth
While simultaneously providing their own streaming services with unlimited bandwidth

4) The Gubmn't wants to manage the billing and fees collection as they are now called out on their crappy delivery of services for our tax money

5) Moving teh Internets under the utilities category makes Republicans angry because they like having the worlds most expensive unregulated service at the highest build-out costs globally all while being ranked 26th for QOS measurments

6) Because Lobby Money will stop pouring in from Lockheed Martin oops I mean Comcast and Time Warner if we hurt their feelings and make them See: Below

a) Deliver what we paid for
b) Charge fair and reasonable prices
c) Do not restrict competition

This ^ is all that is happening.. Nothing more
And all this is happening while Obama sits in the seat - so its automatically BAD
Q: Name something that offends Republicans?
A: The actual teachings of Jesus
