I posted the article but it sure isn't true for me. I spend a hell of a lot more on food, clothing and housing than I do on taxes.....

If President Barry Sortero had his way, Tax Freedom Day would be December 30 for everyone.

Re: Tax Freedon Day
I don't know if I spent more on taxes than I did on all those other things but as it happens I was noticing how much my wife and I sent to Federal and State governments in withholding along with estimated tax payments and wondering how much more we paid in taxes by virtue of the taxes that show up on utility bills, sales taxes, property taxes, etc.
Anyway, the amount we sent to governments via withholding and estimated tax payments in 2013 $31,871. Most of that was various Federal taxes. That was $27,786. I don't know yet if we'll get refunds or have to shell out more. But if we do get refunds it's not going to be much. It's not going to change the picture much. We're going to be looking at having paid at least something in the neighborhood of $30,000 in the income/Social Security/Medicare tax combo.
And I'm not getting sucked on nearly as much as the "rich" are. It's just another reminder of how out of control things have gotten. We have government doing and/or trying to do way to much. Way to big. Spending way to much. Totally out of touch with the original idea associated with the establishment of this country.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

99% of the world's population would be thrilled to change places with you. We lost touch long before this, with the standing armies and foreign entanglements.
