Cap'n Cat's CS History/Politics Book Club, March/April 2014

Finished up "The World Until Yesterday: What Can We Learn from Traditional Societies?" a couple of weeks ago. A little plodding but had some interesting information. Definitely a book for Kalm to use for quoting on CS.


Just finished "Operation Paperclip: The Secret Intelligence Program that Brought Nazi Scientists to America." This book was very interesting. The US definitely had a moral conundrum about what to do with leading scientists who were hard-core Nazi's with lots of blood on their hands.


Just started "Code Name: Johnny Walker: The Extraordinary Story of the Iraqi Who Risked Everything to Fight with the U.S. Navy." A much lighter read than the last two but still interesting and more entertaining.


Next up is "Lincoln's Boys: John Hay, John Nicolay, and the War for Lincoln's Image."

That is a good book. Sir Alistair Horne wrote about The Great War as well and did a fantastic job. You should look up his titles. John Keegan is also someone you might enjoy. Both use first hand accounts as well as primary sources and are well researched.
