Only 18% of the government is shutdown. The Executive Branch is choosing to "shutdown" the memorial.BlueHen86 wrote:WASHINGTON — A crowd converged on the World War II Memorial on the National Mall, pushing through barriers Sunday morning to protest the memorial's closing under the government shutdown.
Republican Sens. Mike Lee and Ted Cruz were among those who gathered Sunday morning, along with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, according to WTOP Radio. Cruz said President Barack Obama is using veterans as pawns in the shutdown.
Really? Cruz is as responsible for the shutdown as anyone, and he is on site with the veterans. If anyone is using the veterans as pawns it's him.
I wonder if Palin stayed for the entire protest, or did she leave half way through.

And Cruz is choosing to use veterans as pawns. Opening the memorial won't solve any of our real problems. Anyone worried about park and memorial closings during the shutdown is a nitwit.DSUrocks07 wrote:Only 18% of the government is shutdown. Well there is an amendment that is the cause of congressional pay.expandspanos wrote:DSUrocks07 wrote: Only 18% of the government is shutdown. The Executive Branch is choosing to "shutdown" the memorial.

The sickening part is: Congress is still being paid during the shutdown
FIRE ALL THESE FU#$$SS
do you get paid when you don't go into work? Where is the outrage?
They're probably thinking; We should shut down more often- don't have to "work" (and I use that term loosely) and still get paid.
WHAT A FRICKIN JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This may be the best thing you have ever posted on this site.expandspanos wrote:DSUrocks07 wrote: Only 18% of the government is shutdown. The Executive Branch is choosing to "shutdown" the memorial.

There is no political gain whatsoever. This is simply a spiteful act against veterans. Obama and liberals (as a group) hate veterans. They've been making our lives less livable since the Vietnam era. Neither did closing them, didn't stop the powers that be from doing so.BlueHen86 wrote:And Cruz is choosing to use veterans as pawns. Opening the memorial won't solve any of our real problems. Anyone worried about park and memorial closings during the shutdown is a nitwit.DSUrocks07 wrote:

I think they are viewing it as a way to use the veterans personally. If they can close those types of things down and piss them off and somehow blame it on the republicans, they think they win. That is why I think it was for political gain. And I agree with you, this was "a spiteful act against veterans".93henfan wrote:There is no political gain whatsoever. Liberals are scum sucking filth. Always have been. Always will be.

Obama, and no one else, shut down the parks...and spent money to do so. It was spiteful and intended to reach a particular audience.BlueHen86 wrote: And Cruz is choosing to use veterans as pawns. Maybe the powers that be closed the parks because they don't have the staffing to monitor and maintain them. If the government is going to shut down and furlough non essential personnel, I would argue that parks are non essential and should be closed.DSUrocks07 wrote:Neither did closing them, didn't stop the powers that be from doing so.BlueHen86 wrote:

I'm up in arms that the government is shut down. Parks and monuments are low in my list. There are industries that are going to be badly hurt in the next few weeks if the government doesn't get it's shit together. Parks and monuments aren't going anywhere, I can see them anytime.Cluck U wrote:Obama, and no one else, shut down the parks...and spent money to do so. Everyone should be up in arms about that.

These park protests are nothing more than photo op's that the GOP is using to try and make the White House look bad. Cruz should be trying to hammer out a deal, not moving barriers from monuments.

Yup, it's all Obama's fault. He's does something stupid, so the GOP has to outdo him in a race to the bottom. But you're okay with that because you drink the GOP Kool-Aid.Cluck U wrote:What are you smoking?BlueHen86 wrote:Maybe the powers that be closed the parks because they don't have the staffing to monitor and maintain them. They put up barriers around open air monuments...and are spending money to guard them.
Photo ops are what politicians do. Obama is on TV and in every newspaper saying the Republicans are bad guys, that he won't compromise while telling everyone else that they aren't compromising, after telling people that elections, apparently only Presidential ones, have consequences.![]()
Obama should be trying to deal, but he isn't. He's doing photo ops and closing OPEN AIR parks to stir up trouble...using innocent people as pawns.

Show me the photo op's of Obama erecting barriers at parks.Cluck U wrote:What are you smoking?BlueHen86 wrote:Maybe the powers that be closed the parks because they don't have the staffing to monitor and maintain them. Using your logic, it's all Cruz' fault...and anyone of the GOP who wants to be seen in a photo op trying to point out something that Obama did that was political and stupid...and Obama has to outdo him in a race to the bottom. But you're OK with that because you drink the Obama Kool-Aid.BlueHen86 wrote: Yup, it's all Obama's fault. He's does something stupid, so the GOP has to outdo him in a race to the bottom.
