Unless at-will, this is illegal...
Also, this letter and ones similar have been debunked time and time again.

You know guys, regardless of the question of whether or not the letter is real, people ARE losing their jobs due to the Affordable Care Act.
Love it if you want. Say the positives outweigh the negatives. But this IS happening. People may not be writing letters like that. But it's too bad they can't. It really is the case that the FIRST people who lose their jobs as a result of the Act should be those who voted for Obama.

Re: The Best Ever Layoff Letter
Yeah, this isn't real. The first tip off is that it's a crumpled piece of paper, that looks anything but official, and is stuck to a refrigerator. The second clue, firing based off of political affiliation is illegal and being so blatant isn't something a CEO would do. So, this is stupid. But then again, They did start it.

A properly run effective company fires dead weight.... (period)
Anything other than that is a poorly run business
So in that regard - who cares
Secondly:
The Affordable Care act would be GONE by now if the Republican Party had anything else to offer

I agree with this. The GOP should quit trying to take down Obamacare and try taking back the Senate and the WH if they really want to make changes. Methinks it's easier to be the "Party of Blame," than the "Party of Action." No wonder people are so apathetic.Chizzang wrote:A properly run effective company fires dead weight.... (period)

Yeah, let's just keep the same over-priced, inefficient system that's really good at bankrupting patients while lining the pockets of Pharma and big insurance...........wait...................CAA Flagship wrote:Dead weight = Donks.Chizzang wrote:A properly run effective company fires dead weight.... Whoa the fuck up. Who said Obamacare was about efficiency? It is about access to healthcare for the poor, the lazy, and all the scumbags who chose not to have their own healthcare and have been statistical pawns in this debate. There is no way this will be more efficient. You know it too.kalm wrote:Yeah, let's just keep the same over-priced, inefficient system that's really good at bankrupting patients while lining the pockets of Pharma and big insurance...........wait...................CAA Flagship wrote: Dead weight = Donks.

#1 This is not the economic time to do anything different.Grizalltheway wrote:Because that's what you do when you're opposed to an idea; you come up with something better to replace it. Repubs would rather act like petulent children.CAA Flagship wrote: Dead weight = Donks.

#2 Just because one side proposes something, the other side doesn't have to continue down the wrong road to try to improve on it. What if the Republicans proposed lowering the drinking age to 18? Would the Dems come up with a plan that is somewhere in the middle of that and the status quo? No. They would just sit back and vote against it.

Of course it is broken. But it can't be fixed in this economy. Wait 5 years or so when it can be absorbed in better times.Grizalltheway wrote:I notice you didn't deny his points about our current system.CAA Flagship wrote: Whoa the fuck up. And then do something different than what is proposed.

It's not a matter of either/or. It's a matter of chronology. Take back the Senate/WH, THEN eliminate this unconstitutional Commie law.
Mark my words. That is EXACTLY what's going to happen.

This. I never said Obamacare was efficient. It's not. But the current system is horrendously bad. Another 5 years won't change that.Grizalltheway wrote:I notice you didn't deny his points about our current system.CAA Flagship wrote: Whoa the fuck up. Who said Obamacare was about efficiency? Re: The Best Ever Layoff Letter
Oh, well "around here" my wife just told me within the last week that a client of hers lost his job because of it. He was associated with my wife due to a rental property. He borrowed money from his brother to put down a deposit. Then after the deal was done his employer called him in and told him they were laying him off. They laid off 8 people due to the Affordable Care Act and he was one of them.John is wrong, as usual, nobody around here is saying they got fired because of Obamacare.
It's happening. Fine if you want to argue that the overall picture is a net positive. But don't think that people aren't losing their jobs as a result of the Affordable Care Act. It IS happening.

Wow, you are dense. Just because you're poor at reading comprehension doesn't mean something is BS. Especially because we both said the same thing: the GOP can't take down Obamacare without taking back the Senate and the WH, clueless wonder.SuperHornet wrote:ASUMountaineer wrote:I agree with this. The GOP is shooting themselves in the foot right now by shutting down the government and not preventing Obamacare from going into effect. They are walking a line right now that could lead to not winning the Senate or the WH, and ensuring that Obamacare remains the "law of the land."
