Memorial Day and thoughts about the War on Terror

Post by ∞∞∞ »

First of all, my good thoughts and thanks to our military men and women, past and present (including the many whom post on this very website).

Second, I had a discussion today with my friend about the man that recently died at the age of 116 and how he had witnessed so many things including two world wars, and that hopefully by the time we're old men, we will not have witnessed such mass destruction.

Then the discussion shifted to a recent poll asking teenagers today what their biggest fear is. It wasn't climate change or the economy, but terrorism. It then dawned on us that for the majority of my friend's lifetime, and half of mine, we've been fighting the "War on Terror." All kids I work with today can't even recall a time when the United States was not in this battle. An 18 year-old joining the military today was 6 when this thing started and honestly, I wonder what the long-term effects of the war are going to be on Gen Y and Z? I'm not sure what it says about our society as this is such a complex issue, but it's food for thought on this Memorial Day.

Ask an Israeli. They have lived with this a lot longer than we have.

I understand why Israel thinks the way it thinks and does what it does, but the United States is in a completely different situation than Israel. I really hope we don't end up having to ask them what the effects will be concerning a long-drawn war on terror. If we do, we've failed somewhere along the road. :twocents:

Buckle up amigo...it's here to stay for your lifetime and it obviously ain't just America. Terrorism is born out of a mix of fundamentalism and desperation. There's a shit ton of desperate people in the world who are more and more privy to inequalities, are susceptible to brainwashing and scapegoating of the West for said inequalities, and they now have more than just sticks, rocks, meat cleavers, and (thanks to free societies) open access to victims in order to fight our drones with. :ohno:

But...Happy Memorial Day???

Hey, drones are getting cheaper as each day passes...and that will make it easy to target large numbers of civilians.

"On a sprawling complex just outside Pretoria, South Africa, a government-owned arms manufacturer is preparing to test an armed drone that it hopes to begin selling soon to governments around the world.

The company, Denel Dynamics, says the armed version of the Seeker 400, which will carry two laser-guided missiles, will enable so-called opportunistic targeting at a range of up to about 155 miles."

Even better... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jplh7uatr-E" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

spanos would be proud of that video...but the fact is that someone will be dropping bombs or poison gas by drones soon at a highly attended event near you. It is just a matter of time. All it takes is an angry azzhat and a few hundred dollars...and we have plenty of angry people in this world.

If you ONLY KNEW! Israel Zionists have concocted total lies to drag us into the "War on Terror" and to continue funding them in the form of billions of dollars a year over and over again! and the American IDIOT propagandized public still falls for it!

Started with their attack on the USS Liberty, where they blamed it on Egypt to draw us into war with Egypt for them:

Meanwhile, Israel is bombing the living crap out of Syria, arming their "rebels" and keeps repeating "We're under attack!" Colonizing the West Bank, spraying crap-cannons on the people who live there.

Former CIA Officer: Israel Controls US Government:

Israel isn't our ally people- they are a lying, manipulative country hellbent on a parasitic relationship with us- using our troops and money for their agenda.

How do they pull it off so easily? Through control of the US media and government.

"Cynthia Mckinney ( Ex Congresswoman) Israel owns the US Government"

I care about our veterans and soldiers, that's why I am speaking out against the never-ending war of terror, which is just a cleverly devised ploy to invade Middle Eastern nations not completely bending over to Israel or the US.

This is NOT what our founding fathers had envisioned when they said our military would be for defense purposes only.

Rudolph, Nichols, Mcvey, Unabomber were upper middle to wealthy? Nidal Hassan was an O-4, making about $50,000. I'd hardly call that Upper middle class to wealthy. :coffee:

I said MIDDLE TO upper middle class to wealthy. They were middle class. Reading is fundamental. :dunce:

And an 0-4 in 2009 all compensation (not just base) would be making more than 50k. Best friend of mine got out of the army at the beginning of 03' as a captain/O-3. Told me in 02' he made about 60k, and he wasn't deployed overseas, no wife or kids.I'm thinking an 0-4 in 09' would have pulled down more like 70-80k.

No, they were just taking advantage of the existing laws...kinda like large corporations taking advantage of tax loopholes. Must have missed your rant about that one...

Has little to due with inequalities for those who attempted acts of terrorism within US borders. Most of the 9/11 hijackers were born to middle class to wealthy families. The underwear bomber's father was one of the richest men in Nigeria. The Times Square bomber was a financial analyst. The Boston bombers were from a working class family. One of them was a student at UMass. The Ft Hood terrorist was a major in the Army.
