We Need to Ban Helicopters

We need safer propellers too

What if a child was around this or it landed in a school yard.

We need commonsense legislation to stop these senseless killings.

Oh. You're making a comparison between guns and helicopters? Ok.

The government controls licensing of helicopters. The government controls what size you can fly. Etc. Etc. The government doesn't ban helicopters because they are dangerous. But, it does highly regulate their use. Perhaps we should regulate guns? Oh. Wait.

Your dumb. We should enforce what laws are on the books and yes, License all gun owners. If you need a class and a license to drive a boat, car, hunt, fish,fly etc... The lets license gun owners. Lets increase education. Banning guns and mag capacity won't solve anything.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but when you buy a gun, don't you get a registration for it?

No. But, regulating and licensing helicopters reduces the danger, imo. If we just let anyone fly any helicopter they wanted in whatever airspace they wanted, we'd have a clusterfuck and much more danger. Regulations and licensing (of both guns and helicopters) REDUCE, but do not eliminate, the danger. That is all.

So, you're calling for more regulation. Gotcha.

That's currently decided at the local level. But, I'd certainly be for national gun licensing. :thumb:

AZGrizFan wrote:Because there's absolutely no regulation of guns currently.
That's exactly my point. Helicopters can be dangerous and there should be regulations stipulating conditions under which they should be used. They should not be flat-out banned. Guns can be dangerous and there should be regulations stipulating conditions under which they should be used. They should not be flat-out banned. No serious politician or person with any power is calling for an outright ban of all guns.

There are tens of thousands of "reguations" already on the books regarding guns, when they should/can be used, etc., etc. The LAST group in the world that I want to know what I have is the U.S. government.

Great. We disagree. But, that's not really the point.

The point it that this is a dumb thread because helicopters and guns are both heavily regulated and that's all anyone wants. No one is calling for an outright ban on guns.

Helicopters aren't protected by the 2nd amendment. There is THAT little factoid muddling up the mix as well...

So? Even the more hardcore gun rights Supreme Court justices like Scalia agree that there are limits on the 2nd amendment.
Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia said Sunday that there “undoubtedly are” limits on the second amendment’s right to bear arms but that these must be limitations that were viewed as reasonable at the time the U.S. Constitution was written.
“Yes, there are some limitations that can be imposed,” he said. “What they are will depend on what the society understood was reasonable limitation” when the Constitution was written. He cited, for example, a misdemeanor at the time, of carrying a frightening looking weapon such as a “head ax”.

Driving a boat= PRIVILEGE
Driving a car= PRIVILEGE
HUNTING= PRIVILEGE
Fishing= PRIVILEGE
Flying= PRIVLEGE
Owning a gun= RIGHT

Their is no 2nd amendment to drive a boat, drive a car (or wagon when it was written), to hunt, to fish. You can license privileges. You can't license rights.

And no, none of the guns I've legally purchased or have been given to me by family are registered with anyone. Nor should they be.
