It's not that there aren't some very pressing and important issues facing our country. It's mainly that I doubt very seriously that there are any reasonable answers that stand a snowballs chance in hell of seeing anything close to daylight among either of the numbnut brigades in charge of the asylum. The other main problem is that I just don't fucking care.

Yes, I'm an Independent
There have been a few attacks lately from the wing nuts out there in CS Land on us "uncommitted" voters.
While this is disappointing, it's all too typical of the attacks by the less intelligent, more emotionally unstable crowd around CS Land.

Dear lord... please allow this dangerous combination of hair spary, bat slobber, and D.O.T. four automatic transmission fluid to excite my mind, occupy my spirits, and enrage my body, provoking me to kick any man or woman in the back of the head regardless of what he or she has or has not done unto me. All my Best, Earlie Cuyler.

Re: Yes, I'm an Independent
Interestingly enough, most on here seem jaded with both parties. It's the folks that I know in real life that give the whole spiel of "blah blah blah most important election in a generation, blah blah blah the candidates couldn't be more different, blah blah blah America is at a crossroads". They are the ones that seem baffled that I could even consider voting Gary Johnson or some other third party or indie.

You misunderstand when I say I don't give a shit. I don't give a shit about most of the stuff they get their panties all in a wad about. That goes for both sides. I just have a hard time giving a decent fuck about most of their pet issues.Col Hogan wrote:I'm with you..except the caring part...death dealer wrote:There have been a few attacks lately from the wing nuts out there in CS Land on us "uncommitted" voters. While this is disappointing, it's all too typical of the attacks by the less intelligent, more emotionally unstable crowd around CS Land.

I have nothing against "uncommitted voters," and I'm pretty partisan. But as an attorney who was trained to be a problem-solver as well as an advocate, I can't understand why those bozos in Washington can't find something in Simpson-Bowles that they like and find a way out of this mess. Seems to me that picking a random 10 CS Poli Board posters (other than psychoCat and Alfie) to do the job would achieve a better result.

It's the system. Most of us would be corrupted by it too. If we go over the cliff, watch for both sides claiming a political victory.Ivytalk wrote:I have nothing against "uncommitted voters," and I'm pretty partisan. I still vote cliff, which might be what some of these guys are thinking as well. Everyone has some skin in the game - taxes go up across the board and cuts to spending.

I vote cliff and I'm shocked that so many people thought that Congress could accomplish something in 4 weeks in which they have had over a year to do.kalm wrote:It's the system. Democrats: It's the Republicans fault. They've protected the wealthy at the expense of the middle class.
Republicans: It's the Democrats fault. They played politics and didn't put forth a serious plan for serious reductions.
My Response: You all failed, you all are accountable and should be voted out.

Isn't that what needs to happen anyway? While I suppose that we could cut spending so that current revenue levels are sufficient, I doubt that the pols in DC would ever agree on what to cut, and we still have to pay off money that we owe.kalm wrote:It's the system. Maybe the cliff will lead to another recession, maybe it won't. We lived through: Y2K, 2012, 8 years of Dubya and 4 years (so far) of Obama, I think we'll survive the fiscal cliff.
It's global warming that's gonna kill us.
