89Hen derides me for being a single issue voter (i.e. having the audacity to want equality for myself), yet it seems like 30 - 40% of the Republican base that he is a part of are single issue voters - wanting to enshrine discrimination into the Constitution.

Obama didn't want equality for you either until Biden put his foot in his mouth and forced the White House's hand about a year ago.

Jon, I will call out any single issue voter, but I'm not sure I'm following your article here.
Sue, a practicing Catholic who also declined to give her last name, was eating a cheeseburger when we chatted with her at the Village Inn. She said it is hard to reconcile abortion with her religious beliefs but said she is supporting Obama. "I can't bring myself to just vote on that one issue."
One evangelical voter not supporting Romney is Mike Pike. He won't vote for either candidate -- he's not casting a ballot in a presidential election for the first time in his life. Pike said the two non-negotiable issues for him are abortion and the definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman.

BTW, anyone has the right to be a single issue voter. I just happen to think that is a terrible way to elect people.

Obama Tells MTV He Won't Push Gay Marriage In Second Term
ABC ^ | 10/26/12

When asked if he would use his second term as a platform to overturn the federal ban on gay marriage, the president demurred, saying he viewed it as an issue for the states to decide.
"For us to try to legislate federally into this area is probably the wrong way to go," Obama told MTV presenter Sway Calloway, who asked questions submitted by youth voters.
