Good Riddance or the Violence Inherent in the System?

Post by death dealer »

http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000057407 No matter which one, it's funny.
Dear lord... please allow this dangerous combination of hair spary, bat slobber, and D.O.T. four automatic transmission fluid to excite my mind, occupy my spirits, and enrage my body, provoking me to kick any man or woman in the back of the head regardless of what he or she has or has not done unto me. All my Best, Earlie Cuyler.

The grumpy old curmudgeon in me says he got what he had coming. Go home, get a fucking bath, and go get a job. The rebellious anti-establishment kid still inside starts humming the tune to pink floyds "Dogs".

As a co-worker of mine said this morning, the problem with our generation is that we want the cars and houses are parents have worked for 20 years, right now.

You can work for the next 30 years and probably won't be able to afford the standard of living they enjoyed.

Ah, it's OK. Patient ended up cancelling due to illness. Here's a pretty good perspective. I don't agree with it all, but I do identify with the overall sentiment. The best thing that could happen to the OWS crowd is a year in Sri Lanka.

I hope not, but I have someone with me who's willing to at least try, but the principle is the same, these "occupiers" want NOW what our parents/grandparents had to work their butts off for.

This is probably true considering government rules, regulations amd other impediments to human progress. O'Bama said something to the effect that we have lost the spirit which allowed us, for example, to build the Golden Gate Bridge. The question is, with the regulatory process as it is today, would it even be possible to build that bridge? You never know. There might be some 3 legged cricket living in Marin County whose habitat could not be disturbed.

Golden Gate Bridge
Interstate Highway system
Transcontinental Railroad network

None of these could be built today under the current rules/regulations/limitations/restrictions. Hell, its a large part of the reason why the interstate system and railroad network are falling apart.

REBUILDING. I'm talking about building it, and/or expanding on it. When was the last time there was an addition to the interstate system in your neck of the woods?

It's a 7 billion dollar project, but I get what you're saying and agree we should be making more investments in infrastructure.

And one of the biggest reasons we don't is because of the cost. And one of the biggest cost drivers is the fricking environmental impact statements that are required for EVERY road cut, EVERY bridget piling, EVERY wash/draw transit, etc., etc., etc. And godforfuckingbid you want to dig a tunnel. 40-50 years ago that shit was just plowed under or plowed through. Now, it takes an act of congress to get a mile of highway built. :ohno: :ohno:

I think they kind of overdid it with him. I'm sure their patience was running thin. But they probably were a little rougher with him than they needed to be.
