Big loss for Fox/WSJ.

At least they didn't pay the $580 million that Rupert Murdoch bought it for.

Well the world does need a place for strippers and whores to post pictures of themselves for free.

"We have whores and strippers" sounds like a great re-marketing campaign.

Justin Timberlake is apparently part of the new ownership group. He needs to find a new financial manager.

They're adding to their portfolio of that includes AOL and Napster. I have a couple of old Betamax players somewhere - maybe they'd be interested. :coffee:

The company that bought it is called Specific Media - I've dealt with them in the past, they're an online data and marketing firm.

MySpace has held on to an interesting niche of the market - it's very popular with African-American teens and a number of other minority groups. No joke - the guy I spoke with at Specific Media about 18 months ago about an online marketing plan for my candidate pitched MySpace for that reason... described the fall of MySpace and the rise of Facebook as "internet white flight"...

not really... he was using it to pitch me on using MySpace to reach minority groups we were targeting - it was a decent hook - but the price was very wrong for the ROI...

I've heard similar about MySpace and FB... white teens referring to MySpace as "ghetto space" etc... I don't know how much of it is real, and how much is a fabrication of the media looking for cheap process story on "social media" and finding a "racial angle"... which, given how lazy reporters can be... wouldn't shock me at all.

I don't think it has anything to do with a race card either and I thought it was a fairly widely known fact that Myspace has been a lot more afro-centric the last four or so years.

It ain't playing a race card if this is where black peops like to go and you want to market to them.

Naturally, THIS is the dummy that makes this "news."
