Wow, the governor of Virginia is an absolute moron

Maybe she needs her own thread….

“Spanberger takes fire from all sides as Youngkin, Angel parent slams recent controversies“

As she was escorted to her car by security after an affordable housing event, local ABC reporter Nick Minock shouted a question about what her message would be to Minter’s family and others harmed by illegal immigrant felons.

"My question would be why when there was a [unintelligible word] deportation order, ICE did not deport," she said as she was hastened into the car.

"ICE had him in custody for 700 days governor and an immigration judge would not allow him be deported to Sierra Leone," Minock attempted to respond as the car door shut.

Minock said Minter’s mother, Cheryl, who headlined a vigil for her daughter in front of Spanberger’s office at the Capitol earlier this week, told him that ICE had been doing what they were supposed to under current law and that "Spanberger needs to check her story because it’s inaccurate and misleading."

Please show stats on those gaudy claims.
Polling shows that trump's immigration policies are not popular with the American public. You could also look at what a bunch of conservative Florida sheriffs proposed.

So those "stats" have been shown plenty of times and are already on CS or easy to find with a little help from Google, ChatGPT, etc.
IOW, you don't have any. I hate what you've become.

If you want me to respond then tell me what "gaudy claims" I'm allegedly making.

Is it that the "detaining and deporting illegal immigrants who have jobs, families and are working toward legal status that I and most Americans have issues with" or that I "like most Americans also think that biden's border policy was an absolute disaster"?

Are you really going to argue that the trump regime isn't detaining and deporting illegal immigrants who have jobs, families and are working toward legal status or that most Americans have trouble with it? The first part is known and the second is backed up by polling numbers (unless you believe trump's insecure blather about his own popularity).

What I've become? I am still a small L libertarian. Fiscally conservative and socially liberal.I believe strongly in individual rights/freedoms which is my biggest issue with the trump regime.

trump and the MAQA Republican Party moved away from me - they are less fiscally conservative and more oppressive of individual rights/freedoms then they've been in my lifetime.

You don't like me saying most Americans? The polls support me saying that regardless of whether it hurts fragile MAQA feelings. Conservative sheriffs in Florida agree with me.

Trump’s ICE Brag Immediately Blown Up by Scathing Poll
But polls suggest otherwise. Earlier this month, a Fox News poll found that a record-high 58 percent of Americans disapprove of the job ICE is doing.

Polls also show that Americans disapprove of Trump’s aggressive immigration enforcement strategy, including some Republicans.

The Public Religion Research Institute poll showed that just 35 percent of Americans rate Trump’s handling of immigration favorably—down from 48 percent in March 2025.

Favorable views of Trump’s handling of immigration have dropped across all parties, with significant declines among Republicans, from 90 percent to 78 percent.
UNI88 wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 3:46 pm Florida Sheriffs Led by Polk’s Grady Judd Sharply Criticize Federal Mass Deportation Efforts
Some members of the State Immigration Enforcement Council, which is comprised of four sheriffs and four city police chiefs, said immigrants who aren’t criminals should be able to stay in the country, under certain conditions.

“Those are the folks we need in this country that we embrace, because we are a country of immigrants,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, council chair. “But we have allowed, what I call the criminal troublemaker, to just flood in this country and victimize people. And I think a path for the good folks with a good intention, for the right reason, is reasonable.”
...
But on Monday, Judd said the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency isn’t deporting those who are mentally ill or “have challenges” and instead removing people who “are healthy and can work.”

He and other sheriffs lamented there was “nothing we can do about it,” and blamed Congress for not working on immigration issues.

“They need to get off their butts and they need to fix it,” said Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummel.
...
“We’re going to give you five years, and you’ve got to learn to speak English, You’ve got to pay a fine for coming into the country illegally, a civil fine,” Judd said. “And you’ve got to not be on the taxpayer dollar, and you’ve got to work, and you’ve got to put your kids in school, and we already know those people who are doing that.”

Florida is different, Prummel said, because law enforcement isn’t “just raiding businesses and homes.”

“But unfortunately, when ICE gets involved, you have the collaterals, and that’s what’s happening,” he added.
Sheriff Grady Judd blasts media reports that he criticizes federal mass deportation efforts: 'Simply not true'

He did offer extremely constructive criticism.

That poll does NOT support what you're saying. The "job ICE is doing" is not the same as people not wanting to deport folks and "Trump's handling"... 50% of the nation would be against Trump's handling of a cure for cancer. :coffee:

I apologize for hurting your sensitive feelings and support for trump.

This is a message board, it's about opinions and my opinion is that most people don't want to:
- detain and deport hardworking illegal immigrants who are members of the community and in the process of getting their green card or similar.
- pull the rug out from under people who were here legally by arbitrarily changing their status and then moving to detain and deport them with no opportunity to appeal.
- Use tear gas, bean bags, rubber bullets, or real bullets against "mostly peaceful" protesters who are exercising their Constitutional rights.

I think that is part of what goes into polls that show people "disapprove of the job ICE is doing" and "trump’s aggressive immigration enforcement strategy". You are free to disagree.

You might be right that "50% of the nation would be against Trump's handling of a cure for cancer" but that says as much about what kind of person and leader trump is as it does about the people.

What I've become? That's funny.

What about what the Republican Party has become under trump?

Once again, I didn't change - I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal and have been for a long time. That is almost the polar opposite of what trump and MAQA Republicans are.

That doesn‘t describe most illegals immigrants, because most illegals don‘t have an avenue to get a green card, which would be rewarding lawbreaking.

Most of the people who voted for Trump want want all illegals deported, with those who committed additional crimes prioritized.
