A Texas voter ID law considered one of the strictest in the country will stay in effect for the 2018 elections. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans upheld the law in their ruling Friday. It's been twice blocked before, but will hold up for the midterm elections.

Good, the racist Dems lose one. Blacks are very capable of getting and maintaining an id, even though Dems think they are too stupid to do so.

WTF? Donald Trump is possibly the most dishonest person to ever be a serious contender for President. And with respect to bullshit: He is a total bullshit artist. A flim flam man.

I've seen that kind of though process before from people supporting Trump. He tells it like it is . Not. He's a straight shooter. Not. He's honest. NOT.

It just amazes me that people could be so willfully ignorant with respect to what Trump obviously is. If Twain doesn't want bullshit Trump is the LAST person she should ever want to vote for.
JSO, is that all you ever think about? Get a life.

I think about lots of stuff. But you have to admit it's pretty strange and ironic to see people saying they like and/or support Trump because he's a straight shooter and stuff like that when the guy constantly lies and bullshits to a point that makes Bill Clinton look like Honest Abe. Just about the most phony and dishonest major politician to ever come down the pike and we have people saying they like him because he's honest. How willfully ignorant can people be?
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth

Watch: Roomful of Rich, White NYC Parents Get Big Mad at Plan to Diversify Neighborhood’s Schools

Anne Branigin
Friday 12:01pm

Anyone laboring under the delusion that New York City is a progressive bastion need look no further than the city’s school system, which remains among the most segregated in the country.

In an effort to fight that trend, which has only gotten worse thanks to gentrification, rising income and wealth inequality throughout the city’s five boroughs, schools on the Upper West Side—one of the wealthiest and whitest sections of Manhattan—are looking to adopt a plan that would require all local middle schools to reserve a quarter of their seats for students who score below grade level on state English and math tests.

The plan is designed to make Upper West Side schools more reflective of New York City’s diverse demographics, and make sure underprivileged students have access to the sorts of advantages and resources that the neighborhood’s well-funded schools can provide.

Well, that plan didn’t go over so well in a room full of wealthy white parents.

No, it is the lame argument that ID’s should not be required to vote because a lot of blacks do not have one. Racial stereotyping at its best.

I think ID’s should be required to vote. I was just being a dick.

And they should be current and valid ID’s. I remember going on ride alongs with my BiL when he was a road deputy and it seemed like half the people he pulled over had suspended licenses. This would probably keep a bunch of rednecks from voting too. It might be a push!

I will also like to say these are the faces of the so-called liberal Whites. They get on social media and pretend to be woke. They write op-eds in the New Yorker or the Times about how Trump is the enemy. They have Democrat fundraising drives. They march with pussy hats and raise money for the Cuomo and De Blasio campaigns. Then they go home to their rich neighborhoods with undocumented and trafficked domestic help. They decline Black people’s resumes and housing loan applications. They pay their Grammercy Park and private club dues. They spend more money for some NYU student to walk their dog than they give to charity. They even attend board meetings to keep Black and Latinx kids out of their well-funded schools. These are your typical ‘I would have voted for Obama a 3rd term’ Armitages from “Get Out” type White people. They will always scare me more than the southern KKK Confederate flag wearing Whites, because at least those monsters don’t pretend to be your allies.

NYC does a great job attracting a diverse pool of people from all over the US and world, but there's no denying that NYC has a segregation problem (particularly in Manhattan).

Cue me. I've been saying this for a long time.

I've known quite a number of liberal white people from suburban Atlanta (many are "yankee" transplants) who like to shake their finger at how backwards the south is but will commute two hours total a day to keep their kids in lilly-white schools. It's not at all against the odds that the recent racial controversy happened in a Starbucks in a liberal white part of Philadelphia and not in a McDonalds or Waffle House in the small-town South.

People make fun of the "I can't be racist, I have a black friend" mantra from southern conservatives, but the white liberal mantra appears to be "I can't be racist, I like Maya Angelou and Will Smith".

Painter is a self-promoting blowhard. He was every Donk’s favorite Republican until his apparent party switch to run for that seat.

Speaking of self-promoting blowhards, what’s the “under” on when Kasich abandons the GOP to run as an independent? I don’t see him going full-blown Donk.

The loser will run again because he's not smart enough to know that he will never be president.

It's all well and good, but when you consider that it was at this event in 2011, when Obama roasted Trump from the podium while Trump sat and stewed, that may have directly led to the Trump Presidency we have today, maybe we should put this thing on the back burner. I feel good that there won't be a Sarah Huckabee Sanders Presidency in the next few years as a result of this, but I would've said that in 2011 as well. These roasts were good when no one paid any attention to them.

Probably the close dback will ever go in throwing some shade Hillary's way.

With that said, yeah, who needs freedom like deciding where to educate your child? Darn freedoms. (said by a guy who is married to a public school teacher and would only send my kids to public schools).

Iowa has an interesting way of doing it. All school funding is tied to enrollment with a per child limit of how much can be spent. So the school serving a poor area or a rich area receive and can spend the same amount on per student on books, salaries, etc. It doesn't matter if you're in a rich suburb of Des Moines and would vote to increase your taxes they can't spend more. Now there are a few exceptions, on things such as facilities, but when it comes to the main part of education it is the same across the state.

I believe Iowa is one of the few states that has never had a lawsuit filed over inequities in state funding of education.
