Thank god...but good point.

Reminds of a couple of golfing buddies (Mel and John) who I used to play with. They were both around a 10 handicap, liked to wager, and bickered like an old married couple. They were playing a match one day and Mel, who was a huge Nicklaus fan wouldn't shut up about having once watched Jack play an exhibition in Spokane and how great he was. Mel was beating John pretty good that round when John, finally fed up with all the Nicklaus talk turns to Mel and says "Man, I wouldn't pay 10 bucks to watch Nicklaus play" to which Mel replied "Why? You're paying $20 to watch me."

The NFL is in the middle of a hell of a conundrum
Truth. It's a talent based industry where the employees are also the product. A little different scenario than the typical company.

Yeah. I don't try to hire talented people. At all.

So you refer to your employees as “the talent”? :? Ever heard of a talent show?

The entertainment industry is different was my point. Sorry to have confused and offended you. :coffee:

Love that ^ Video from Joy Villa...
The NFL management could learn a lot from this video

1) Play it on every video screen before every game
2) Send it to all NFL teams to show their players

Let the player then decide (like free men) what they should or should not do during the Anthem
The NFL should be the adults in this scenario not the knee jerk children

When you respond to childish behavior with a childish response... you become a child

Prager U? Seriously?

What that woman did was tie herself up in the obvious paradox. She's talking about how wonderful it is that we live in a country where people are free to protest like that while at the same time saying we should get all in a wad when people protest like that.

Seriously, though: My brother is posting that Prager U crap on Facebook all the time. Just stop. It has no credibility. It's a flipping Rush Limbaugh type radio talk show host's propaganda effort.

It's not partisanship. That "worship the flag" crap is something I've railed against for many years. Way before there was any indication that we had to worry about having a nut job like Trump being President. Stuff like people wanting to make it against the law to burn the flag.

Getting in a wad because somebody kneels during the national anthem is pretty lame. It just is. To me it shows that you don't know what the hell the country is supposed to be about.

The issue is that the NFL is a business and they saw they were losing business by allowing a bunch of guys to protest during the national anthem. Protest on your own time. I don't get paid by my company to protest shit.

....guys that used to stay in the tunnel until after the anthem, until the DoD paid the NFL to trot them out early for patriotic displays, many of which directly violate the Flag Code...yeah protest on your own time indeed :coffee:

I don't think it's clear that they had, in net terms, been losing business because of that particular thing. They'd been having issues of some decline in ratings before that became an issue.

And, again, what's probably going to happen now is that some number of players are going to stay in the locker room during the national anthem. We're going to be in the same place.

Interesting business move by Nike. They have made Kaepernick the face of their "Just Do It" ads.

The tagline:
"Believe in something, Even if it means sacrificing everything."

Now the funny thing about this is the fact that Kaepernick chose to protest the National Anthem (and the flag) in order to get attention for police brutality. Many people, whether right or wrong, associate the Anthem and flag with military service. And we all know the risks they take, along with the risks that police take every day. So the "sacrificing everything" is an interesting choice of words considering that it likely refers to Kaepernick's reputation and football playing career.

Nike stock took a 2%+ dive in the premarket trading session today.

I guess I'm a trend setter....

I boycotted the NFL 10 years before Humperdink.
I stopped buying overpriced Nike products about 7-8 years ago.

So, these "boycotts" are really easy for me...

I still watch the NFL and will buy a pair of Nike’s if the price/performance/comfort tradeoff is there.

Shoes are shoes. I still like Apple even though they drive their slant-eyed employees to commit suicide and whatnot.

Frankly, just get me my product. Every corporation does something wrong.
