Yes I saw that and, frankly, it increases my faith in Blacks in Virginia. I'm actually encouraged by that response.

And I think Northam is now covered. If the overwhelming majority of Blacks in Virginia don't want him to resign over that picture the Whites that want him to resign need to just shut up.

For now, Northam is hanging in there, thumbing his nose at the folks howling for his resignation.

There’s a very good seafood restaurant in his home town on the Eastern Shore of VA: the Great Machipongo Clam Shack. Mrs. Ivy and I frequently dine there on our way to visit Sprig Ivy in Hampton. Haven’t seen any blackface or Klan robes yet. Plenty of black customers, too.

I have already been seeing Black talking heads saying that the real racists are the Republicans because of what they have been doing. The general idea is that doing things like trying to disenfranchise Black voters is a lot worse than wearing Blackface 30 something years ago.

And I basically agree with that. I mean, really, we all know Republicans have been trying to suppress the Black vote where ever they can. It makes sense that Black people who think about that would be WAY more offended by that than they'd be by a guy putting Blackface makeup on for a party over 30 years ago when he was 25 years old.
