A bit ironic since that's where Cid calls home.

I know you're joking, but there are places in Zimbabwe and South Africa where you would think you are in the US except for the fact that the cars are on the left side.

To be truthful, Africa would not want me. I bossy as all hell and I get angry quick. I would try to rule the country within a year. As Americans, we belong in this country. I know several African Americans who attempted to move to Africa and they all moved back within 3 years. Africa is a shit hole. You will never catch me talk about moving back to Africa.

Meh.

I thought you were all for people celebrating their heritage?

Do you say the same to Americans like Cid who dress up in kilts and play Scottish? I mean, Klean isn't going nearly that far.

That's two different things. Cid doesn't refer to himself as a Scotch-American. Celebrate your heritage, but let's not get crazy with what we call ourselves. I'm not an Irish-Scottish-French-English-German American. I'm an American. You're an American, for christ's sake. If you're born in Georgia, you're an American. If you're born in Niger and then emigrate and become a citizen, you're an African-American.

Does Cid call himself Scottish American? I'm 100% Irish-American and my ancestors have probably been in this country a lot shorter period of time than kkkleanex's, but I don't go around calling myself Irish-American.

This.

The first member of either my fathers, or mothers, side to step foot on American soil from Germany was 1874 give or take a year or two (thanks to record keeping at the time). My great-grandparents on both sides were the first one members of my direct family tree born in America. My grandparents, on both sides, were the first to speak English. My sisters and myself are the first generation to not be bi-lingual with plattdüütsch and English, though I do understand it when spoken to a small extent thanks to growing up around a family that still sued it a good amount.

I'd say I'm a hell of a lot closer to a true "German-American" than kkkleany is to any "Afircan-Americam"

This is where "white privilege" comes into play to defeat any white person that came here after the civil war and don't give a shit.

I don't know if he identifies as Scottish American or not. He certainly celebrates it, though.

It just seems like celebrating your ancestry as a white person is seen as normal and respectable... but, dismissed if you're not white.

And, yeah, most Americans do still self identify with where their ancestors immigrated from. That is changing - mostly in Appalachia.

Hey genius, that's because we're not allowed to say we're proud to be white without being labeled a neo-nazi.

Blacks can say they're proud to be black. So can Hispanics. So can Asians. So can gays. So can women (as long as they don't further subdivide as white women - any other subdivision of women is fine though, such as black women, hispanic women, gay women, etc).

Therefore, since we white people are not politically allowed to be proud of our race, we have to revert to our country of ancestry, since that is politically acceptable. For now.

The lazy Irish immigrants tended to settle in places like Boston and NYC and live in slums, whereas the industrious Germans spread out and started homesteads (including my great-grandparents, who initially went to Alberta before settling farther south in Canada).

BTW, Mexicans now outnumber Caucasians in California.

Since whites are now the minority...and they carried the water for everyone else for the past two hundred years...

...so, I'm thinkin' the burrito-eaters owe the whiteys reparations.

More likely, the Krouts spread out looking for pockets of minorities to steal from and kill.
