ohn it is because you confusing Atheism with Nihilism...
They are not the same thing
No, I am not. Atheism inevitably leads to Nihilism if one is intellectually honest about it because you can't make an argument for innate morality under the atheist premise.

Now, we have seen that many atheists aren't intellectually honest about it. They seem to feel the need to argue that there is an ultimate basis for morality if atheism is correct. But there isn't.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

This is an example of you arguing your opinion as if it is fact. Great message board material, but I doubt if you are convincing anyone. Well anyone other than yourself.

No, this one is a fact. Under the atheist premise there is no intrinsic right or wrong. Go ahead and attempt to argue otherwise.

But use your head before you do. If you say that right or wrong can be based on what makes human beings happy or sad I can ask what makes making humans "happy" right and making humans "unhappy" wrong. And we can go on and on like that.

The fact...yes fact..is that if there is nothing beyond us that sets the rules there is no basis for saying anything is intrinsically right or wrong. You can argue otherwise until you are blue in the face. But you will be wrong.

And that is not an opinion. It is a fact. And I don't need to convince anyone. Anyone who is intellectually honest about it and thinks about it for a while will realize it.

You are still arguing your opinion as if it is fact, but for someone who doesn't think they need to convince anyone you sure are trying.

For the second time, John, please state this "atheist premise" you keep talking about. :coffee:

There is no god but I like these people. Besides, it would be beneficial to me to not be a douche bag while I'm here.

I'm not an atheist.

I consider myself to be a Christian... though, most Christians probably wouldn't consider myself to be a Christian.

Great post John, the same amount of information in much fewer words. :thumb:

Then you dont know much about Christians.

If "most" Christians felt the way you THINK they feel, do you really think anyone would be able to be openly gay in this country?

The reason for the paradigm shift in this country boils down to the fact that MOST Christians are just like YOU, SK.

I know its tough coming to the realization that you arent the only enlightened person in the world, but you'll get there.
