Agree with Joe here. Catholic Charities is a well run org that saves the government millions by being cheaper, more efficient and their ability to leverage donor dollars to further underwrite services. Don't know about some of the other religious orgs though. When I worked for them, there was absolutely no religious programming and no pressure from the archbishop to do so.

That being said, the church should be taxed because its a fucking business. They provide spiritual services for the brainwashed and lonely and are no different than psychics, fortune tellers, Yoga instructors, and the rest of the "Spiritual self-help" industry - all of whom pay taxes. They sell bullshit salvation to suckers and the mentally ill and are no different than McDonalds.
