That's not really true. There is no list of "gods."

There is one God, the God who is "what is." Everyone in this thread (perhaps even Jeff) agreed they believed in this God, the one who is "what is."

(That everyone agreed with this is somewhat encouraging, because the name by which God revealed himself in the Old Testament translates into English as "I am" or 'I am what is."). Pretty deep theological/philosophical thought from a bunch of you folks described as bronzed-aged nomads.

Hey Joe, here some more "Deep theological/philosophical" thought from the Old Testament!

God creates light and separates light from darkness, and day from night, on the first day. Yet he didn't make the light producing objects (the sun and the stars) until the fourth day (1:14-19). 1:3-5

 Your god is a dipshit.

Ask a Hindu, or a Pagan. Pagans are one of the fastest growing religions, making a huge comeback.

What Bibleman also fails to mention is people claiming NO RELIGION are the fastest growing group according to the latest Pew Research Study.

The Catholic Church is goin up in flames and people are starting to see what a waste of time and resources organized religion is.

Hitler was a product of the Catholic Church.

Stalin was a product of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Bibleman Joe doesn't understand that atheism is not a religion or form of government. :ohno:

Looks like Joe doesn't personally know or studied under any world renowned political scientists.

The Jews, that recieved the 10 commandments, believed in mulitple dieties but were loyal and obeyed the God that delievered them from the Egyptians (henothiesm). The 1st Commandment can be interpreted to forbid the Israelites from worshiping any other god but the one true God who had revealed himself at Mount Sinai and given them the Torah. Additionally, it can also be read as henotheistic, since it states that they should have "no other gods before me." The existence of other gods is neither confirmed nor denied. These early Jews still worshiped El and Baal (to name a couple).

So, to say thier is only one God when the forbearers of your religion worshipped other gods before AND after the manifestation of "YAWEAH" is weak.

Exodus 2-5
2 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery;
3 Do not have any other gods before me.

4 You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth

5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,

It sure seems that people, including a lot of people at the school I attend, tend to live this way. Like Ghandi once said “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

I think if there were a bunch of actual Christ-like Christians out there, rather than the douche-nozzles in polos with popped collars that act better than everyone, that Christianity might be more well accepted...

In order to discuss a topic effectively, you actually have to understand the other guy's points.

This is why you remain the dim 1.6%. This is why the atheists continue to remain an irrelevant, microscopic minority. People ignore you because they know that you don't even understand their point of view.

You guys need to rant and rave on message boards, and write lengthy tirades on your own websites, because you are otherwise ignored for the extremist nut jobs that you are.

You are great at telling me what I think without ever really listening to my thoughts.
