He is simply investigating corruption and if you disagree, you are guilty of obstruction.Skjellyfetti wrote:How is it still even up for debate that Trump leverage foreign aid for his investigation?
https://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-admi ... GPLBKsc9rmIn an interview, Sen. Ron Johnson (R., Wis.) said he learned of a potential quid pro quo from the U.S. ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, who told him that aid to Ukraine was tied to the desire by Mr. Trump and his allies to have Kyiv undertake investigations that the president has sought.
Mr. Johnson raised the issue with Mr. Trump in a phone call on Aug. 31, shortly before the senator was due to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In the call, Mr. Trump flatly rejected the notion that he directed aides to make military aid to Ukraine contingent on a new investigation by Kyiv, Mr. Johnson said.
He is doing his duty.

So now you have a CIA’s General Counsel who filed a criminal referral before the whistleblower stuff came out and was disregarded by the DOJ.
A second whistleblower may be coming out soon.
Romney has jumped ship.
Pence is being subpoenaed.
Mitt’s got game!

Still...it will only take a little more open Republican dissent of the President to end this.

Trump only needs to hold 34 Republican Senators in line. Shouldn’t be too difficult.kalm wrote:That’s true. I forgot.BDKJMU wrote: Romney jumped ship a couple years ago. That loser has been bad mouthing Trump since after Trump got elected.

I don't know why, but whenever I see Mitt Romney, I'm reminded of this fellow:

I wonder if SCOTUS would bend tradition a little and let Toga Boy swear in President Pelosi...

Trumps legacy might well be that through his own hamfisted clumsy real estate developer way... he shined a spotlight on the corruption of political power that is the status quo in our government and has been for some time
Notice how pissed and appalled Joe Biden is getting in his pressers when they DARE question him about his Ukraine issues rather than focusing completely on Trump?

Even if he stumbles into it, that won't be close to the legacy he's remembered for.

There’s a streak in powerful people like Trump that absolutely loves reaching an imagined summit of supreme dominance where their money and influence enable them to become untouchable. See shooting someone on 5th Avenue and the Epstein stuff (Clinton included)CID1990 wrote:Trumps legacy might well be that through his own hamfisted clumsy real estate developer way... he shined a spotlight on the corruption of political power that is the status quo in our government and has been for some time

They enjoy the laying their dick on the table and getting away with it part (figuratively and probably literally as well).
Re: The Trump Whistleblower Extravaganza Thread
Second whistle blower officially comes forward.
If the NYT's story earlier this week was correct, this person is higher up and has direct knowledge/access to the issues at hand.

The original WB said there were 6 people with direct knowledge of the calls that would corroborate his story which is why the whining about hearsay from all the junior prosecutors out there so funny.∞∞∞ wrote:Second whistle blower officially comes forward.

"its not admissible in court"..."they just changed the rules."

Been saying it all along. He is a business man piece of shit and not a political piece of shit. People just get angry because he doesn't follow the political rules.Again and again, he doesn't defend himself against charges as much as he forces us to entertain the reality that he is not fundamentally different from the people already holding power. Often he's right.

I still don't understand why there aren't more whistleblowers coming forward. The only thing I can come up with is that this sort of stuff happens all the time. And that the only reason THIS is being whistleblowed (redneckery term) is because of the hatred for Trump.

Have you seen how conservatives - including politicians and right-wing outlets - have attacked the whistle blower?CAA Flagship wrote:I still don't understand why there aren't more whistleblowers coming forward. God help them if their identity is ever exposed.
I'm more surprised a second one officially came forward. These people are great Americans.
