We've been through this before:

http://mic.com/articles/94568/the-5-hap ... .BiENi5sLR
According to a new working paper from professors at Harvard and the Vancouver School, the happiest cities in the United States are all in one place: Louisiana.

Using data from a CDC survey called the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, among other sources, and adjusted for age, sex, race, income and other factors, New Yorkers are the among the unhappiest people in the country. The five happiest, based off demographics and income, are Lafayette, Houma, Shreveport-Bossier City, Baton Rouge and Alexandria, all in the great state of Louisiana.
And we have this:

http://www.mdpsychfoundation.org/2010/0 ... s-to-live/
The happiness ratings, which “were based on a survey of 1.3 million people across the country by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” were derived from data collected over four years “that included a question asking people how satisfied they are with their lives.”
WCBS-TV New York (12/17, Tyler) reported that, according to the survey, the top five “happiest states…are Louisiana, Colorado, Hawaii, Florida, and Tennessee.”
So say what you will. We don't care. Laissez Le Bon Temps Roulet!
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Hey here's something kind of sad from that article on the happiest cities I linked. It's a quote from the authors of the study:
Differences in happiness and subjective well-being across space weakly support the view that the desires for happiness and life satisfaction do not uniquely drive human ambitions. If we choose only that which maximized our happiness, then individuals would presumably move to happier places until the point where rising rents and congestion eliminated the joys of that locale. An alternative view is that humans are quite understandably willing to sacrifice both happiness and life satisfaction if the price is right. ... Indeed, the residents of unhappier metropolitan areas today do receive higher real wages — presumably as compensation for their misery.
Underline added for emphasis.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Like education outcomes in the deep south, it's obviously due to "demographics".

I would say that demographics are a bigger factor than education systems are.

In the current crop of GOP candidates, Kasich has the best wit: wry, self-deprecating, cerebral. But he couldn't do stand-up for a living!

It's hard to come up with any politicians these days that could do it. Franken obviously had some skills at least in the writing department but as a senator...zero noteworthy funny moments.

Like so many things, Cajuns don't care about that. Nobody has ever contemplated that businesses in Acadiana should be forced to have answering machines include Cajun French, that signs have to be in Cajun French, etc. Nobody thinks that if you go to take care of some official business someone is obligated to give you the information in Cajun French.

It's kind of like Cajuns also don't give a crap if you make stereotypical jokes about them, etc. They're self assured in who they are and don't give a shit if you like it or not.

Not really, Klam. There was no "pee in the butt" option, so we had to make do with what we had.
