1.6%
We are talking about 1.6%?
You are not relevant until your tribe equates to at least 6.93%. :tothehand:

That is, of course, unless you pay something like 35% of the federal income taxes. In that case, you rule the world. :coffee:

Well, I've noticed that on internet message boards, they are about 50%. I guess when you can't find anyone in your town or workplace who thinks like, you have to find solidarity on the net. :coffee:

I guess I am. If he's tying Christianity to Paganism, fine, but that doesn't take away from the fact that there are so few "pagans" today, I'd have to believe that anyone in a school who claimed to be a pagan is only doing so because they think it's cool and it's just a phase. Kinda like furries.

I read a column this morning by a conservative columnist, of all people, showing that the percentage of "religious unaffiliateds" in the USA is now over 25%. If the trend continues to increase, this debate may become academic quite soon.

Very few people claim to be Pagan today...
or even understand that "Pagan" simply means to believe OTHER than a strictly defined world religion
in other words maintaining a "non-conformist" belief system

To be Pagan by definition - doesn't require following anything - kinda like "not collecting stamps"

I would argue: In America
There are more pagans who claim to be christian than most people would believe
A HUGE percentage of claimed America Christians only call themselves that because they follow the Christian holiday system (in other words the Modern Calendar)

But if you ask these "Christians" do you think Jesus walked on water and performed all the miracles they will tell you - probably not really and don't even actually care

So by strict definition THEY ARE NOT Christian
And yes they follow the modern Christian Calendar
But are closer to a Pagan than a Christian

Kinda like the story of Jesus's birth replacing Yule.

Cleets is right - especially if you consider groups like pantheists, animists, humanists, et al. And of course harvest celebrations, Octoberfest, and Easter all got their start in paganism and are celebrated by people of many faiths... as they should be. Nature, agriculture, and the changing of the seasons, are as important to recognize as religious stories... And certainly more relevant...

You guys are so far off track from the original question. Sure, you can make a case that somebody who calls themselves a Christian may be closer to a pagan, but somebody who calls themselves a Christian isn't going to offer up a pagan prayer because they are not really a Pagan.

As the guy who likes to say I ride a high horse said... "stick with me...."

A hypothetical question…

Would you be ok with an atheist, wiccan, satanist, or muslim occasionally leading a daily prayer at your kid's school?

What would an atheist pray to?
