Proving my assertion.

Try thinking next time.
 I'm not defending Obushma. He's a shitty President. Try not being a flaming partisan hack. Obama didn't magically make Americans lazy and ignorant. Americans were that way prior to 2009.

Try thinking rationally and like an adult next time.

Our Federal Government can't give a coherent logically consistent reason
Nor can they specifically identify an enemy

Instead we get:
Vague descriptions and orange threat color
and images of Hellfire missiles hitting what amount to goat herders with AK47s

Strange times :coffee:
Horseshit!

If you don't know why we're at war and who the enemy is, you're a blind, deaf moron.

If you need help, catch a flight to Islamabad and take a stroll through the market wearing a crucifix or Star of David. It was a pleasure to know you.

Under Obama, Americans have become lazy and ignorant. They are no longer worthy to receive protection from the men and women who stand tall as members of our armed services.
So we're at war with Islam..?

This year, an 18 year-old sent to fight the "War on Terror" was 5 when it started. That's scary.

Hippie, if you are sincere with your interest, read American Spartan, about Special Forces Maj. Jim Gant and his work with the Pashtun tribes. He "wrote the book" on a hearts and minds program called One Tribe At A Time (Google it...it's required reading for commanders), adopted by Petraeus, then later discarded once it became proven and began threatening the "conventional warfare" guys. American Spartan just came out but will win a pulitzer.

I know you're not that dense. The enemy is defined by their belief, not nationalism or ethnicity.

BINGO..!
Right we have an enemy that cannot be recognized in any traditional manner
Thus our government (for obvious reason) cannot clearly define an objective

So...To my original point

We have a general population of Americans who aren't sure what exactly we're fighting
because there is no coherent logically defined enemy by those who RUN THE MILITARY

Combine with that ^ above insanity the overwhelming desire to get our corporations down to the business of extracting the offending regions resources as fast as possible and you've got a very cloudy afternoon of explaining a few key elements...

1) What are our motives (obviously not just "self defense" ?
2) Who exactly are we defending (obviously not just Israel) ?
3) Who exactly is THE ENEMY ?
4) What EXACTLY is the end-game for America ?

Read my other post, Kalm.

True Islamists are not fundamental extremists like the Taliban. Most muslim in Afghanistan, Pakistan and surrounding nations DO NOT support the Taliban. Our strategy needs to equally involve STRENGTHENING local defense/police (obviously non-Taliban), along with coalition counterinsurgency ops.

Much of this conflict arose from progressive NGO's interfering with cultural traditions, aid conditions, and blatant govt hijacking for the purpose of imposing progressive western ideals.

C'mon, man. :ohno:

"When one is fighting for territory, ethnic dominance or even ideology, the terms of battle are relatively clear. In this new war, our enemies have many targets, virtually anything and everything American, but unlike other terrorists whose aims are obvious if no more legitimate, these terrorists have no targets of their own to hit and no stated objective, no demands to be satisfied or denied. More, the enemy isn't easily identifiable. Unlike other terrorists who can be denoted, the new enemy is a way of thinking."

This paragraph above could have been used for Vietnam, the American war for independence, and a host of other wars.

Wars are ALWAYS about philosophy to some point. Mainly, the philosophy that someone, or group of people, is entitled to someone else's power and wealth.

Don't waste our time, Mini-Kalm. The current Islam war is SOLELY about maintaining their mythos founded culture. It has NOTHING to do with wealth, land or form of govt.

Vietnam grew out of post WWII domino doctrine (form of govt).

Google "mythos v logos" and any number of adjuncts,."war on terror", " Islam", etc...and you'll find numerous discussions on the topic. I specifically QUALIFIED THE PAPER I HAD LINKED AS A CLIFF NOTES version...neither comprehensive or complete.

As I have sadly had to chastise Kalm on several occasions, please take a moment to study an issue before assailing other more informed posters remarks.
