Course, they'd just taken advances off their credit cards to gamble, so probably not the best example.

And I love you, Z and Hen. Hell, I even love Joe and BDK and Cluckie. When I tell people about the hilarity on this website, I always refer to you fellows as "my Conservative brothers".

How exactly does one prepare one's tits for a wringer? Pump 'em out in advance? Apply conditioner?:?Cap'n Cat wrote:AZGrizFan wrote:

A few comments on various topics brought up in this thread:
a) When the big banks were bailed out they didn't lend the money out as it was- ahem- understood that they would. Instead they bought treasury bonds which shored up all their balance sheets and stock prices. The credit freeze was in full effect but the banks didn't miss a beat due to that and the fat cats still got paid.
b) The root of the housing malaise goes back to first the Community Reinvestment Act and then Gramm Leach Bliley.
c) We mustn't overlook the role that the PMI companies insuring the FNMA My Community loans, Bank of America's (620 FICO, 100% financing, 64.9 DTI) and AIG insuring default swaps on sub-prime MBS both played in the housing bubble.
d) Don't fret over your credit score if it is over 740. There's no functional underwriting or loan pricing difference in a 780 score and a 750 score.
e) As for loans against chattel property, a very rich man once told me "if it flies, floats, rolls, or fucks- lease it."
