So the Dems didn't have congressional majorities since 2006? Seems like they may have had a hand in this too. Dems were all in for the war effort in '01-'03 if I recall. Plenty of blame to go around.kalm wrote:Appaholic wrote:

You can blame Obama for not fixing an economy that someone else broke. And the class warfare thingy worked pretty well for FDR.

More Blame Obama
You are correct, my friend. The "blame Bush" tactice is fast becoming a losing gambit:BDKJMU wrote:I calling BS unless you got a reputable poll that shows the VAST majority of likely voters still blame Bush...TwinTownBisonFan wrote:

I agree, lots of blame to be spread around including Clinton and the 104th who's deregulation really laid the groundwork for much of this. But again, that's not neccessarily Obama's fault and I think a certain percentage of voters are smart enough to realize that. Will it be enough to win? Who knows.ASUG8 wrote:So the Dems didn't have congressional majorities since 2006? Seems like they may have had a hand in this too. Dems were all in for the war effort in '01-'03 if I recall. And I'm also not so sure that the Dems were opposed to raising taxes in order to fund the war. Bush cut taxes during war time and it cost us over $1 trillion in revenues.

Bill Clinton Breaks With Obama, Says No To New Tax Hikes
Business Insider ^ | 09/20/2011 | Zeke Miller
In an interview with the conservative website Newsmax, said raising revenues in this economy would be counter-productive.
“I personally don’t believe we ought to be raising taxes or cutting spending until we get this economy off the ground," he said. If we cut government spending, which I normally would be very inclined to do when the deficit’s this big, with interest rates already near zero you can’t get the benefits out of it."
Clinton said he wants the government to take steps to help underwater homeowners — who are ignored by both the Democratic and Republican jobs plans.
"I don’t think you can tax or cut taxes, I don’t think you can spend or not spend enough to get America back to a full employment economy until we flush that debt," he said.

Instead of Monday morning quarterbacking to figure out where the BLAME lies, perhaps he should spend a bit more time trying to actually SOLVE the problem. The military has a saying: assume the watch, assume the problems. Obama (the alleged commander in chief) has done the exact OPPOSITE and has spent 30+ months deflecting blame and doing his level best to ensure HE had nothing to do with creating this mess....in the meantime, he's exacerbated the problem tenfold and come up with NO viable solution to the problems he's made abundantly clear he didn't create.kalm wrote:I agree, lots of blame to be spread around including Clinton and the 104th who's deregulation really laid the groundwork for much of this. I realize it's a self-defeating prophecy, but I can't in good conscience vote for someone with NO chance to win, thereby giving someone as damaging as Obama ANOTHER four years to run this country completely off the cliff. At the end of the day, the flag-wrapping demagoguery is somewhat irrelevant if they have a valid plan to fix the country's economic and fiscal woes. We KNOW Obama doesn't have THAT and that is priority one.Appaholic wrote:And I won't stay home either, but I won't give my tacit approval to either party by holding my nose and pulling a lever. I too, long for the day where a viable three party system is developed, but until then I'll just have to play by the rules as they're written.

Seriously, though, how much damage has Obama done since Republicans took the House? He did most of his damage in his 1st two years and Bush did most of his damage in his 1st 6 yrs when he had Republican Congress watching is back. Vote for gridlock and hope for a better candidate next time around....sends a message to the GOP that you won't get the WH back just by being the lesser of two evils....it has to stop / start somewhere. Even with a conk in the White House we'll still have gridlock, but we'll be more likely to have fiscally conservative gridlock where they're not reaching their hands into my pockets and taking my money as much as Obama and his cronies.

I agree to a point. Though much of our problem right now lies with the bureaucracy and gridlock won't stop it. The rules and regulations coming out of the bureaucracy are a huge problem.Appaholic wrote:Seriously, though, how much damage has Obama done since Republicans took the House?
