Are we getting raped for gas, when cars run on water?

I know I am in the minority here, but I just don't get why more people don't buy diesel cars and automakers make more of them to sell. I have been driving a TDI for years now and won't go back to a gasser until I can't buy one. The fuel is a little more costly right now and kind of takes away it's cost advantage but I personally like the torque and feel of the diesel engine over a gas one any day. My current TDI is an '03 Jetta and I get about 43-46 with it, but I also go about 80-85 down the freeway most of time, it will do better. It also isn't a death trap like some of the cars that get similar mileage. It has ABS, ESP, Side curtain and side impact airbags as well as the standard front ones. VW puts some other good safety features in them as well like steel beams in the doors. They weigh in range of 3000-3500lbs so they are not a tiny compact coffin.

My guess would be emissions, usually. In the case of small trucks it is the also the chicken tax that was imposed as a retaliatory tariff. I need a truck and I would prefer a diesel, but they are only available in full size pickups.

It sure would be nice to buy a light duty truck that could tow a decent amount, boats etc, and get into the 30's mpg wouldn't it? I know I'd love to buy a light duty SUV with a diesel and get 30 with it but they don't exist yet.

Rangers and Tacomas can be had with diesels anywhere on the planet but here. Manhindra's effort to bring one in doesn't look like it's going to make it. Damn shame, too, it would be perfect for smaller properties.

The problem is that you have to have energy to break the water apart into hydrogen and oxygen. It's not really a "water powered" car. It's powered by whatever is being used to break the water apart into hydrogen and oxygen.

The compressed air car one of you mentioned is more straightforward. Energy provided through electricity is basically stored in the form of compressed air.

I do not think there's any conspiracy going on that suppresses new technologies that would solve all of our problems so that the greedy oil companies can continue to sell gasoline. I think it's just that's it's awfully hard to beat the internal combustion engine powered by hydrocarbon fuels right now.

To be honest, I don't think we should be using cars that run on water. We're already beginning to see shortages around the world, and the next great wars are predicted to be fought over it (if you think the Middle East is bad now, wait until they begin fighting over H2O).

Cmon, think about it, cars in the last 35-40 years have only experienced a scant increase in MPG unless you drive a hybrid.

Gas has gone from under a dollar to the upper 3's on average.

Quarterly profits routinely break records.

So over three years have gone by since you posted this thread and we're no closer. Before you know it this will be like NWO, FEMA boxcars or caskets. Still waiting for those to materialize.
