What's not great about it is the impact it's had on the medical system in the US - we're laying off way too many medical workers because of the misguided and, as it turns out, unnecessary step to turn all the focus of the medical industry onto COVID. Outside of maybe NYC, we never should've had that hyper-focus on COVID at the expense of elective surgeries and other medical practicing. I think both the medical industry as well as millions of patients would've been in a better spot today had they been able to maintain treatment and seen their doctors through this rather than the one-size-fits-all lockdown that we stumbled into. Again, when we're laying off front-line medical personnel, in the midst of a pandemic, we've really screwed it up.
So yeah, other than that it's a great thing.![]()

Re: Coronavirus
My Atorvastatin prescription is about to run out. Called my doc for a refill, telling the assistant that I have to get my annual physical for insurance reasons by the end of August, but I don't want to go into the bloodwork with a lapse in the meds. I told them that with the pandemic, I would like to hold off the visits (bloodwork and doc visit) for another couple of months. They said no. I blasted the assistant. I said, "Oh great, I have the one doctor in America that doesn't overmedicate their patients."89Hen wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 7:44 amSo my Dr's office called and they want me to do a virtual appointment and then come in after all this for my bloodwork. What's the point of a virtual well visit?Gil Dobie wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 7:35 am
I saw my Dr during this pandemic. Virtual appointments are great and don't take a lot of time away from my work day. Also, my Dr is available thru medical messaging, And if something serious were to happen, the hospital has a division between COVID-19 patients and non-COVID-19 patients.
Any pains? No
Any issues out of the ordinary? No
OK, I guess we're done here. I'll bill your insurance for the visit.

So, we never had exponential growth as some wolf-cryers proclaimed here. While we haven't hit the top of the bell yet, we've certainly flattened the curve as they say. Stock market is having one of its best months in history, even with Russia and SA flooding the oil supply. Good stuff:

Still way over the average CDC recorded number of flu deaths of 3000-15,000 deaths per season, by quite a bit.

That's actually my case as well. He's doing it for my statin RX, but I had my bloodwork done in maybe November or December... everything fine. Bloodwork should be all that matters for statins.

Re: Coronavirus
I had the pleasure of hearing Charlie Plumb speak earlier this year. Plumb was shot down over Vietnam before McCain and they were imprisoned together. McCain refused special treatment. Plumb talked about how the prisoners developed a communication system leaving pieces of toilet paper in the latrine. Each prisoner had their own "mailbox." One day while being escorted to the latrine a piece of toilet paper dropped from where a prisoner was hiding it. If the guard saw it the jig was going to be up and the prisoners would lose their one form of private communication which was huge for morale. McCain sees what is about to happen and throws an absolute fit to draw the guards' attention. The prisoner was able to retrieve the tp and take it to the latrine without notice. McCain gets the crap beat out him. Would Bone Spurs have done the same thing for his fellow prisoners?
McCain was a lot of things, some good, some bad but a coward wasn't one of them.
Plumb's presentation was called Who Packed Your Parachute and it was excellent for anyone looking for a presentation on leadership and volunteering.

You couldn't discredit the substance of Ibanez' post so you attack it's length? Sounds like a dodge to me.
And yes, veterans overwhelmingly voted for Trump. I would guess that veterans overwhelmingly vote for the Republican candidate. I would also guess that most of them disagreed with the things he said about McCain so they held their nose while they voted for him for other reasons.

Country of over 329 million, 57,505 Chinese Virus deaths according to the official CDC scoreboard.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nc ... in-us.html
That's .00017% of the population.
More than 30 million jobs now lost according to the BLS. That's over 520 jobs lost for every Chinese Virus death. Let that sink in for a minute.

They couldn't have voted for him despite agreeing with my assessment? What part of "held their nose" do you not understand? There were a myriad of other reasons for veterans to support Trump despite what he said about McCain and POWs. The fact that they voted for him in no way shows they didn't agree with my assessment.
