It's a perfectly relevant observation

It angers Republicans because it hits an exposed nerve
Virtually zero establishment Republicans wanted Trump elected - and that is a FACT
A fact that gets swept under the rug by our revisionist brothers

Trump destroyed the party on his way down the path
and now Establishment Republicans are forced to lick his nut sack or get railroaded out STAT

How does that happen..?
Ask Germany

Get in line and sing the song or GTFO...
Oh, so electing a person who is unpopular with the political class = Hitler right? :suspicious:

And your apparent assumption that we're somehow Trumpites is kind of strange, too.

Agreed. I've always said that Trump is very much like a Berlusconi - more attached to his personality than to any ideological leanings. People who compare Trump to Hitler tend to be people who don't have a good understanding of history and just want to find something awful to say about Trump because they just don't like him. I suggest calling him a buffoon, that seems to fit. :coffee:
The comparison we're discussing is about "how he got elected"
Not his political affiliation

Trump - as Republicans have been busily re-writing - at the time destroyed his own party
and was absolutely seen as some dark horse comic book character

Nobody will every be able to say "gee how could that nutball get elected anymore..."
Is just a plain old fact right now

The fact that Republicans are circling back around Trump and sucking his dong is another story entirely

8-)
"How he got elected" is what I am referring to as well

Populist enthusiasm and a "business as usual" opponent is how Trump got elected.

There are hundreds of examples of national leaders who rose to office in that manner- and plenty of those wound up being bad for their respective countries - Hitler included

So why is it again that of the wide array of people Trump could be compared to, his rise is compared to the most extreme option possible?

Youre placing yourself right in the same box with the most dramatic hysterics on the left with your defense of this analogy

Your point is spot on kalmness...
A German guy is absolutely allowed to make that very relevant observation
No American is ever again allowed to say to a German: "How'd that nut get elected..?"
and frankly the fact that this hits close to the bone - is simply sauce for the goose

Well I've already pointed out to you that the comparison is overwrought

but you continue to defend this thinly veiled Trump = Hitler argument, and I don't know how much more clearly I can describe it for you

I suppose when Trump usurps our democracy via internal coup .....then we won't be able to ask Germans how a virulent anti Semite with a history of political violence and one coup attempt under his belt could possibly be elected

but until then, the Germans will still have to put up with owning Hitler

Terrifying isn't it...
And who else could a German use to make the point..?

Oh and BTW
One way to usurp a democratic Republic is through the legal system
you know, by having a team of lawyers working around the clock
having literally thousands of court cases burring common law under a mountain of paperwork
creating chaos and disharmony at every opportunity

It's crazy isn't it... what kind of German could make such an outlandish claim

Just because you don't like it... then it can't be so
I'll check with this administration and see who the new list of "Enemy of the People" are
Presently it's anybody that asks a question or seeks clarification

Like I said

When we elect someone with actual Hitler street cred then those poor put upon Germans will be able to rest easy

Hitler was on record about his personal feelings long before he became Chancellor. Mein Kampf was a blueprint written WELL before. And Hitler had already tried to take over the government from Bavaria in the putsch. And went to prison for it

Trump is about as vanilla as you can get compared to Hitler, and he isn't an ideologue - at all. Neither is he a gifted orator.

You can veil whatever this logic is in righteousness all you want but it doesn't make your argument hold water. In fact, the logic you are defending could just as credibly be used to comment on Obama's election.... gifted orator, promises of a new direction, ideologically driven...

This is a clever and coy meme but at the end of the day its just a Godwin's Law variation
