My first 30 years were spent in California, couldn't have avoided them even if I'd wanted to. The six most common surnames in California, in order:

1)Garcia
2)Hernandez
3)Lopez
4)Smith
5)Martinez
6)Gonzales

Teachers, dentist, coaches, hardware store, Boy Scouts, Little League, Pop Warner. Half of everybody was Mexican and where I was born used to be Mexico. Got a buddy flying out here for the eclipse in April just to make sure the carnitas are done right

Public schools in Washington may soon be required to teach students about the contributions and history of LGBTQ+ people under a bill approved by the state Senate last week.

Senate Bill 5462 would mandate school districts in Washington adopt curricula that includes “diverse, equitable, inclusive, age-appropriate instructional materials” on historically marginalized and underrepresented groups.

That includes people of color, people with disabilities, people who are neurodiverse, and those from various religious backgrounds.

At some point kids should learn how to think and analyze. The public education system used to be much better. What it is now is particularly destructive for blacks. This is one of the reasons caribbean blacks educated in let’s say Jamaica, do much better on test scores than American blacks.

I’m quite sure critical thinking and um education in general was much better in the 1940’s.

You need to get out more. Spend some time around and talk with today’s youth. Their level of knowledge, skills, and learning capabilities are flat out amazing.

Christ just think of all the scientific discoveries, tech advancements, and educational modeling and training that’s occurred. And opportunities of ascension for kids of the working poor and under-privileged minority groups.

The answer to that problem is things more education continuing education (both STEM and tge hunsnitues), family leave, higher paying wages, etc.

Throwing money at education is not the solution

Paying administrators (like Richard Corcoran) super high salaries rather than teachers is not the solution.

Attempting to indoctrinate students with woke or Christian ideologies is not the solution.

Teaching to the test is a huge part of the problem. Teach them how to approach any test rather than a specific test will help teach them analysis and critical thinking. Federal requirements (No Child Left Behind and Every Student Succeeds) have screwed up education. Let the states run it and it will become a competitive advantage for states that invest in public education over those that don't.
